When doing these hypotheticals, it’s not just about great players playing with each other. We also have to account for fit. I think the biggest potential problem is the overlap between Kobe and Wade. Neither are natural point guards and both liked slashing and operating from similar sides of the court. LeBron is a natural point forward and that skill set allowed Wade to work to his strengths. But perhaps the biggest difference between the two is defensive versatility, especially the 2013 version of LeBron. I don’t believe Kobe could check both smaller and bigger players like Bron could. That completely alters the defense scheme. They’re still the class of the East with Kobe and the Finals are probably a safe bet. But I think there were certain matchups where Bron fits way cleaner.
