As a woman, must I change my name after marriage?

My wife and I have been together for 14 years and we have a child together. We’ve also known each other since our teenage years. Recently, we attended a child-free dinner at a friend’s house, so we both had a few drinks. During the conversation, the topic of my wife’s ex-boyfriend came up. I knew him too because we still occasionally see him through mutual friends. They broke up when they were 19 because of his drug addiction, and my wife and I got together about a year later. While everyone was talking about how sad it is to see how badly his life turned out, my wife, who was drunk at the time, said she had begged him to stop using drugs and how painful it was that he chose drugs over her. Then she added that if he had gotten clean, they would probably still be together today. I didn’t react immediately because none of us were really sober, but those words completely shattered me inside. The next day, she noticed I was distant, so I told her what she said had deeply hurt me and made me question our entire relationship because I’ve always secretly feared I was the second choice. Since then, she has locked herself in the bedroom and has barely spoken to me. Honestly… would those words affect you too after 14 years of marriage?

Today, I mistakenly sent a voice note meant for my "Gossip Group" into my "Family Group" instead. I was gisting with my best friends about a guy I met at a lounge, giving them every single detail about how he was forming rich but his shoes were screaming for help. I was laughing so hard while recording it, feeling like a professional storyteller.

My mom is 90. She lives alone. Last week, a neighbor came by and asked, “Is your mom okay? I haven’t seen her in a few days.” I went to check on her and found her lying on the floor. She had fallen and couldn’t get up. She’d been there for three days dehydrated, terrified, and completely alone. When I asked why she didn’t call for help, she said her phone was on the table, just out of reach.

I remember back when I had 0 followers, and I honestly thought: I’ve got good content. I’m weird in a good way. If only I could get more reach. Now I have 2,000 followers.
