His name was Rajan. He was a final year engineering student at the Regional Engineering College in Calicut, Kerala. His father, T V Eachara Varier, was a Hindi professor at the Government Arts and Science College in the same city. On the morning of March 1 1976 the police came to the college campus and took Rajan away. India was under Emergency. Civil liberties were suspended. Courts had effectively turned away. His father found out the next day from the college principal. He went to every police station in the district. No one admitted to having his son. He met the Home Minister of Kerala, K Karunakaran, directly. He sent petitions to the Home Secretary of the Government of Kerala three times. Not a single reply or acknowledgement came. He wrote to the President of India and the Home Minister of the central government, with copies to every Member of Parliament from Kerala. Nothing. What Eachara Varier did not know at the time was that his son had been taken to an illegal police interrogation camp at Kakkayam. He was tortured. A practice called uruttal was used, where a heavy wooden log is rolled over the body of the victim. Rajan died from his injuries. His body was disposed of by the police and was never found. When the Emergency ended in 1977 Eachara Varier filed a habeas corpus petition in the Kerala High Court. It was the first such petition filed in Kerala after the Emergency. He did it without legal training, without political backing, without money. He had spent everything searching for his son. The court case slowly unravelled the truth. It forced K Karunakaran to resign as Chief Minister of Kerala in 1978 when the adverse judgment came. Rajan’s mother became mentally unstable from the grief. She died in 2000 still not knowing where her son was. Eachara Varier wrote his memoir, Memories of a Father, which won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2004. In its final lines he wrote, “I don’t close the door. Let the rain lash inside and drench me. Let at least my invisible son know that his father never shut the door.” He died on April 13 2006. He never found his son’s body. Rajan was picked up from his college campus on a March morning in 1976. He was never seen again. Repost this. Some stories must not be allowed to disappear.

The Ironman is widely regarded as one of the toughest endurance events in the world. It is a grueling single-day test of stamina and determination. Participants must complete a 3.8 km swim, a 180 km cycling ride, and a full 42.2 km marathon, all back to back. On 10 May, my son Nandil, currently in his fifth year at the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru, took on this extraordinary challenge at Ironman Vietnam. After just 7-8 months of preparation, he completed the challenge in approximately 16 hours. As a father, it fills me with immense pride to see his discipline, determination and perseverance. I wish him the very best for the journey ahead and for many more milestones in life.

Her name was Lini Puthussery. She was 31 years old. A nurse at the Perambra Taluk Hospital in Kozhikode Kerala. She had been working there for six years. She had two sons. Ritul was five years old. Sidharth was two years old. In May 2018 the Nipah virus arrived in Kerala. Two brothers and a relative were brought to the hospital with symptoms nobody had seen before. Lini was on night duty when they arrived. She cared for them through the night. They died soon after. Confirmed Nipah positive. By Friday Lini herself had fallen ill. She was shifted to the ICU at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. When she learned she had contracted the Nipah virus she asked the hospital not to allow her two sisters to visit. She did not want them exposed. From the ICU she wrote a note to her husband Sajeesh. “Sajeesh I am almost on my way. I don’t think I will be able to see you. Sorry. Please look after our little ones and take them to the Gulf. They should not be alone like our father. Lots of love.” She died on May 21, 2018. Her body was cremated quickly to prevent the spread of infection. Her family could not say a proper goodbye. She did not hesitate when the patients arrived. She did not ask who would care for her sons if she fell ill. She showed up for her shift and did her job. Today is International Nurses Day. Her name was Lini Puthussery. She deserves to be remembered.

I was on a train in Tokyo. We stopped between stations. Announcement in Japanese, then in English: "We apologize for the delay. We will resume shortly." The delay was maybe 3 minutes. Not a big deal. When the train started moving again, another announcement: "We sincerely apologize for the delay. We were stopped for 3 minutes and 20 seconds. This is unacceptable. Thank you for your patience." Three minutes and twenty seconds. They measured it exactly. And called it unacceptable. When I got off at my stop, there were station staff on the platform bowing and handing out delay certificates. I took one out of curiosity. It was an official document stating that the train had been delayed by 3 minutes and 20 seconds, signed and stamped. The staff member said in English "for your employer. So they know the delay was not your fault." I said I'm a tourist, I don't need it. He looked confused. "But the delay affected you. You deserve an apology." Three minutes. They were treating a three-minute delay like a major incident. Later I mentioned this to a Japanese friend. They said "oh yes, delay certificates are normal. Trains are supposed to be exactly on time. If they are late, they must apologize." I said three minutes isn't late, it's nothing. My friend said "in Japan, three minutes is late. On time means on time. Not approximately on time." They said the train company probably investigated why there was a 3-minute delay. "They will find the cause and fix it so it doesn't happen again." I kept the certificate. It's framed in my apartment now. A reminder that somewhere in the world, people care about three minutes. © 6IX.

A mother is the most illogical being on this planet. My mom is no different. I was a nobody in academics during school time. Still, my mother, being an illogical person, pushed me into doing CA. Many relatives subtly suggested (and rightly so) me and my parents to not get into CA. But I don’t know how and why, they still did. My mom just kept on praying to god that I get back on track. Miracles do happen! I did! I cleared all levels of CA in one go. God knows what got into me, I studied as hard as I could. From not knowing how to do ledger posting to clearing both groups of CA inter in 8-9 months was nothing short of impossible. Then I cleared CA final at age 22, again both groups in the first attempt. All thanks to an illogical Mom! Otherwise, who in their right mind asks their kid, who failed in class XIth, to do CA? My illogical mother not only pushed me for greatness but also woke up at 4:30 am to prepare food for me and slept at 11pm so that I could eat fresh food each time after coming from classes. BTW she’s also a CA :) Happy Mother’s Day to every “illogical” mother!

Shubman Gill did not ask to carry a billion dollar franchise on his shoulders. He just asked to bat. But when Hardik Pandya walked back to Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans needed a face, Gill was 25 & suddenly the most important boy in Ahmedabad. His numbers since have been obscene. 4000+ runs before 27. No one his age has ever scored more in IPL. But it is not just volume. It is the method. He is the only batter in IPL history to score 4000+ runs while averaging above 40 & striking above 140. Everyone else chose one or the other. Gill chose both. Since 2023, he has made 2428 runs in 55 innings at 49.5 average & 156 strike rate(Highest among all batters). His strike rate is higher than Jos Buttler in that stretch. higher than Sanju Samson. And he does not have luxury of an explosive middle or lower order to hide behind. No finisher to clean up if he fails. If Gill does not score, Gujarat Titans does not post a big total. He has to be consistent & aggressive in same breath. He does it with a calm that looks almost rude. He kills spin in middle overs & gives his supreme bowling attack something to defend. Rashid Khan, Siraj, Rabada, Holder; all of them firing , but even they need runs. Gill provides them like rent coming due, taking Gujarat Titans to the top of the table with permanent consistency of his top order. At Ahmedabad stadium, he owns the place. Over 1300 runs there, 3 hundreds, average above 50 with 163 strike rate. Crowd comes to see their boy. He is no longer the kid from Fazilka who looked too pretty to be tough. He is the landlord of Ahmedabad & everyone else is just visiting.

Dear @TRAI, Imagine your recharge plan is going to expire in 2 days. Imagine someone is following your sister late at night, and she is trying to call you for help. Imagine you are injured on the road and desperately trying to call a family member. But before the call even connects, telecom companies play long warnings like “your plan is expiring soon, please recharge” in two languages. During this warning, the actual call does not connect, and valuable time gets wasted. In emergency situations, even a few seconds matter. These repeated recharge reminders are extremely frustrating. We already know when to recharge. Customers should not be forced to listen to long, nonsensical warnings. Please order all telecom companies to immediately stop these nonsense warnings before calls, or allow the call to connect while the warning plays in the background. Be serious.

During a tense bullfight, matador Alvaro Munero suddenly stopped and walked away from the bull. As the crowd watched in silence, he looked into the animal’s eyes and felt sadness and compassion instead of fear. He later said the bull did not look angry, only innocent and wanting to live. That moment changed his life forever. He dropped his sword, left the arena, and from that day on, he never took part in bullfighting again. His story later spread worldwide as a powerful message of compassion and respect for animals.

A woman and her 14-year-old daughter reportedly waited outside a police station for over 2.5 hours seeking action after the minor was se¢ually harassed at a shop by Babbal Chaudhary. The mother claims that when confronted him regarding the matter, they were allegedly threatened with violence. In the video, the mother can be seen pleading for justice and protection, while the daughter recounts her traumatic experience. Every child deserves safety, dignity, and swift justice. @CMOfficeUP must take immediate action and ensure the family’s protection #BetiBachao

Four years ago, I sat down with my 12-year-old daughter in the US and told her I was walking away from a successful tech career and real estate business to return to India for public service and politics. At that age, she didn’t realize “public life” would slowly take her Appa away from her for months… and years. But I came with conviction. So for the last 4 years, we gave everything we had — for example -In villages like Subramaniapuram and Vellanaikottai, we built bus shelters, restored a 100-acre pond, removed seemai karuvelam, strengthened bunds, planted thousands of palm saplings, supported students’ education, organized medical camps and career workshops, built community sheds, encouraged youth and sports activities, and contributed to annadanams. It cost several ten lakhs of hard-earned money - just for this village alone. But more than money, it cost time… family moments… and precious years watching my daughter grow up from far away. Then elections came. And the same village chose a candidate who had barely visited them in five years. In the end, one week of election-time money defeated four years of sincere service. Yesterday, my daughter quietly asked me over video call: “Appa… can you now tell me what exactly politics is?” For the first time in my life, I did not have an answer for my chellaponnu. @svembu

Kalita Maji washed dishes in people’s homes. She earned ₹2,500 a month. Her total savings were ₹1,61,216. She does not own any land. No big house. Her husband works as a daily wage labourer. She asked for votes the same way she once asked for work. She went door to door. In 2021, she lost the election by about 11,000 votes. A woman who cleaned other people’s homes stood in front of people with honesty and said I wanted to serve you. In 2026, she returned and won by 12,535 votes. 1,07,692 people voted for her. Now she will sit in the West Bengal Assembly. This is real women’s empowerment.

My dear Moron, before checking the bulletin- check the immigration and visa lines in India out side their Consulates and Embassies- then check the ones outside Indian ones in the West. Don’t deflect and do Bakwas, change and fight for the change to save India. The extremely corrupt and dangerous politicians and bureaucrats are bleeding the money and the soul of India. Have some shame if there is any left.

Her name was Ruchika Girhotra. She was 14 years old. A tennis player from Panchkula, Haryana. On August 12 1990, she went to meet S.P.S. Rathore at his office. He was the Inspector General of Police and head of the Haryana Lawn Tennis Association. He had promised her father he would arrange special coaching for her. When her friend stepped out of the room, he molested her. Her family filed a complaint three days later. Rathore had her expelled from school. Her father was suspended from his bank job on false charges. Six cases were filed against her brother Ashu. The family's house was forcibly sold. They fled to the outskirts of Shimla and took up earth filling work to survive. On December 28 1993, days after Ashu was paraded in handcuffs through their neighbourhood, Ruchika consumed poison. She died the next day. She was 17. Rathore threw a party that night. He then refused to release her body to her father unless he signed blank papers. Those papers were later used to forge documents accepting a false autopsy report. Despite a police inquiry recommending an FIR against him, Rathore kept getting promoted. He became the Director General of Police of Haryana in 1999. The case went through 40 adjournments and more than 400 hearings over 19 years. In December 2009 a court convicted him of molestation. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and fined Rs 1,000. The sentence was later enhanced to 18 months. The Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 2016 but reduced it to the time already served. He walked free. The judge who tried to add abetment to suicide charges against him was forced into premature retirement. The judge who dismissed those charges was a neighbour of Ruchika's family involved in a property dispute with them. S.P.S. Rathore was later invited as a VIP guest to a Republic Day event in Panchkula. Ruchika Girhotra was 14 when he molested. She was 17 when she died. Follow for stories India deserves to remember.

India is indeed a shithole! All the stories of politicians and bureaucrats perpetrating violent crimes with impunity and not only getting away with it- but also destroying the lives of the victim and victims family. This is the definition of a shithole country, I don’t know why people get offended when someone in the West calls out the truth?
