Tacachale brought together residents, staff, and community members for a Celebration Day which was filled with connection and community! Events like these highlight the meaningful experiences and strong relationships that define Tacachale.

April 2 marks World Autism Awareness Day. Join us in recognizing individuals with autism and raising awareness about the importance of understanding and support in every community!

APD staff rocked their socks for Down Syndrome Awareness Day last month—adding a little friendly competition along the way! The day was a great opportunity to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and the many ways they enrich our communities.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! Supporting individuals with developmental disabilities takes strong partnerships. Across Florida, providers, community organizations, advocates, families, and state agencies work together to expand opportunities!

March 25th is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day! Today is an opportunity to raise awareness about cerebral palsy and celebrate the strength, resilience, and accomplishments of individuals with CP.

APD loved having @EasterSealsFL CEO Tom Waters stop by the office—and we were especially glad to have Easter Seals be part of our recent art show, helping highlight the incredible talents of individuals we serve across the state.

Several of our residents recently participated in the Special Olympics Area Games on March 7, competing in bocce, athletics, basketball skills, and cycling! The event served as an exhibition ahead of the Regional Games and gave participants the chance to compete and have fun!

APD hosted an art show on the 22nd floor featuring artwork created by individuals attending Adult Day Training (ADT) programs across Florida. Several of the talented artists joined us to see their work proudly displayed and celebrated!

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!   Through community-based services and employment supports, APD helps individuals with developmental disabilities build skills, find meaningful work, and pursue greater independence.

APD staff gathered to surprise Director Bob Asztalos following his confirmation by the Florida Senate! It was a special moment to recognize this milestone and celebrate his continued leadership of the agency.

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) supports thousands of Floridians with developmental disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida, and intellectual disabilities.

APD welcomed individuals, families, and advocates to our offices for an open house, providing an opportunity to connect with staff and learn more about how the agency works! These opportunities help strengthen understanding and build connections.

APD was glad to be at Children’s Day at the Capitol last week, connecting with families, sharing resources, and highlighting supports available to children and youth across Florida. It was a great day of learning, engagement, and community!
