MKO Abiola had a major financial scandal, which was the ITT bribery allegations from the 1970s-1980s. ITT Nigeria (a subsidiary of the U.S. multinational International Telephone and Telegraph) made questionable payments of millions of dollars from 1975 onward to win huge telecommunications sales contracts in Nigeria. Central to these deals was Abiola himself. Critics (including activists and the public) accused him of supplying inferior equipment while pocketing excess profits, which contributed to Nigeria’s notoriously poor telephone network at the time. The allegations gained massive cultural traction through Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti’s 1979/1980 song “I.T.T. (International Thief-Thief)”. Fela explicitly called out ITT as “International Thief-Thief” and named Abiola as part of the system draining Africa’s resources.

“What we want to do in Abia State is to have power in our own hands. In time to come, the entire Abia State will be disconnected from the national grid, and 24-hour electricity supply will be guaranteed across every part of the state. Electricity matters because about 60–70% of manufacturing costs are tied to energy. I got a call from someone yesterday who already owns a steel plant and wants to relocate it to a state with 24-hour electricity. I told him to come immediately. I have already allocated 5,000 hectares of land to him close to Geometric.” — Governor Alex Otti speaking today at Invest Lagos.

“I want to appreciate Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for inviting us. It takes a lot of selflessness to invite other states to take advantage of a platform to market themselves, and I assure you I will not demarket you as I market myself. Lagos is a mega city. If you ask me, I would say it is overpopulated, and that is why it is good for other states to begin to grow. We cannot all be mega cities like Lagos, but there are things we can take from Lagos.” — Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, speaking today at Invest Lagos 3.0

Alex Otti is currently speaking at the Invest Lagos 3.0 opening ceremony. Listen to him as he talks about the growth of Abia State, highlighting the progress, achievements, and upcoming projects his administration has delivered within just a few years in office. I keep saying it, good governance is not rocket science. Alex Otti is doing a remarkable job just in 3years.

Colonial-era missionaries played a big part in spreading Christianity across the continent. And critics argue it helped European empires maintain their dominance over Africans who abandoned traditional faiths. This blogger describes it as enslavement “without chains”. Whether you agree or not, there's no doubting the numbers. There are over 700M Christians in Africa – that’s almost half the population. And by 2050 it’s estimated there’ll be over 1B. 📹 TikTok - altitudewithin #Christians #colonialism #wakeupAfrica #AfricaUnite #panafricanism #Christianity #SouthAfrican #SouthAfricans #JoshuaMaponga #SouthAfrica #imperialism #panafricanism #Africa #Africans #Afrikarise

🇿🇦 The Forgotten History of Solidarity 🇳🇬 As columns of news details highlight modern conflicts and Afrophobia in South Africa, a powerful truth has been completely lost. The visual proof of African history shows that South Africa's liberation from Apartheid was deeply built on Nigerian sacrifice. The Merc brings back the hidden historical receipts: 💸 The Mandela Tax: In the 1970s and 80s, every single Nigerian civil servant had 2% of their salary automatically dedicated to the South African Relief Fund. Nigerian students even routinely skipped meals to send aid. 💰 The $100 Billion Support: In total, Nigeria spent over $61 billion on the anti-Apartheid struggle. They weaponized their own valuable resources, refusing to sell oil to the regime, losing an extra $41 billion in revenue. 🛂 Passports & Sanctuary: When the Apartheid regime confiscated activists' passports, Nigeria issued over 300 passports to give them safety and a future. They even housed a young Thabo Mbeki in Lagos. Nigeria didn't do this for profit or dynamic charts; they did it because brothers stick together. 🌍✊🏾 📢 Share this to your stories, groups, and family. It's up to us to educate our community about true African unity! 👇 Why do we continue to let artificial borders erase our history of solidarity? #SouthAfrica #ApartheidHistory #Nigeria #PanAfricanism #TrueHistory #TheMerc #Alkebulan #Sovereignty #AfricanUnity 🌍✊

@OlaApinke931 @EleluAyoola At this age of yours, you should be calling younger generations together to work in Ubuntu and determine thier mutual enemies, then fight them as one- irrespective of their different ethnicity. Well, foolish youths get old too. You are a perfect example of that.

@EleluAyoola It's Pa Adeboye's tribe. They have venomous hatred for illustrious Yoruba people. The RCCG that Pa Adeboye heads, is almost at par with their Catholic church, and known worldwide! Who knows Kenneth Okonkwo or listens to him? Nobody!

One day we will know what Peter Obi did to Kenneth Okonkwo that really upset the guy but for now... I want to ask. Why is it that that despite all the thing Kenneth has said, continues to say against Peter Obi, the Obidient movement do not disparage him and insult him like they do Pastor E A Adeboye? You see Pastor Adeboye has never said anything that remotely attacks Peter Obi or his ferocious base. Yet every two market days, you will see most of the loafers attacking the man. I published an article titled, "My greatest Sympathy for RCCG Yoruba Obidients" and everyday, that story seems to update itself. It's almost a year old article but if you read it today, it is as fresh as today's bread. Why does the Obidient movement love to attack Pastor Adeboye and not Kenneth Okonkwo? Is it because Peter Obi paid and told them what to do? Or, and is it because of Adeboye's tribe? © Mercy.
