Wryneck, great find by @tom_wright16 at Dungeness this afternoon. A tricky species to catch up with across the peninsula in recent years. @DungenessBO

Shame on Japan for slaughtering fin whales, which are among the largest and most majestic creatures ever to have graced the Earth. For what? Dog food? The Japanese certainly aren’t interested in eating whale meat.
Blue Planet Society@Seasaver

The first fin whale has been killed by The Kangei Maru. Kyodo Senpaku, the Japanese whaling company, has announced the capture of a male fin whale, 19.6 m long and weighing 55 tonnes, off Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Japan announced a quota of 59 fin whales this week. #STOPTHEHUNT

Fairly sure this is the Longipennis race of Common Tern at @RSPBDungeness mid-morning, giving me an identification headache. It didn't hang around for long and flew off south.

Save the largest known rare bat colony! The Norwich Western Link Road would be disastrous for Norfolk’s wildlife. Nature’s recovery must be a priority, not further destruction. action.wildlifetrusts.org/page/145181/ac…
