For those looking for some Penguins-related hockey this evening, there are lots of #LetsGoPens prospects in playoff game 1's in the CHL tonight: - Bill Zonnon (vs Gabriel D'Aigle) - Harrison Brunicke - Kale Dach - Ryan Miller - Jordan Charron & Travis Hayes - Brady Peddle

Some thoughts: 1) Erik Karlsson is 100% the MVP of the Penguins this season. I give the entire team credit for stepping up each time Sid & Geno have gone down, but EK65 is willing us through these games, some real leadership from him when it is most needed. That's not to say that Chinakhov & Rakell haven't been instrumental to that success too, cuz they definitely have as well. 2) On the topic of Rakell, he isn't getting enough credit for the job he did taking over center and improving his faceoff win % literally from one game to the next, plus he has had some sneaky good production lately to boot. 3) Skinner played out of his mind tonight, if he continues that, you have to give him the net going forward. 4) The game vs NYI on Monday may just wind up determining if we make the playoffs through the Metro or not. If we can secure two points in that game, that may just sink NYI's chances of getting in through the division and secure one for us.

Back to 2nd in the Metro with that CBJ loss and our win!

@DomDiTommaso @SmeeshyBeeshy87 I'll introduce you to something, it's called Strength of Schedule, and it's an objective figure. We have the 19th hardest schedule remaining (SOS), which makes it the 13th easiest schedule remaining, that is just a fact. It has nothing to do with what I or you think.

The Penguins are screwed. Their schedule finally caught up to them (and doesn't get any easier), as are injuries. Their goaltending situation is back to being shaky, their defense sucks, and everyone seems tired and overwhelmed. If something doesn't change quickly, they're done.

@DomDiTommaso But their schedule is literally much easier the rest of the way! 19th in strength of schedule post-COL game. Boston, islanders, Columbus all 1-2-3

@PensNHLFan @kelsey_surmacz4 Howe with Kindel could potentially work, they had great chemistry together in Calgary last season. Though as you've both said, it may be too soon for him.

@kelsey_surmacz4 I wonder if this could fall under emergency recall? Howe is an interesting one but I’d agree that he may need some more time

Really great news for a team already missing its second-leading point-per-game scorer and best penalty-killer/defensive forward. At least their second-leading goal-scorer is now out, too. Truly wonderful news. Awesome.

If it's any consolation, NYI lost in regulation, which is actually pretty massive for us.

Love it when the eye test matches the analytics. the five exact players that I have been discussing as potential #LetsGoPens draft targets for most of the season happen to finish the regular season with the 5 highest points-per-game totals in the CHL.
