As TSA remains unfunded airports with long lines like Atlanta, Houston, JFK should be avoided. Some 20 smaller airports with private security have not been affected and the others like DCA that Congress uses have minimal disruptions and lines.

If TSA funding not restored this week, Congress’s planned two week Easter break could delay payment of TSA workers till mid April. Radical solutions could involve payments offered by Elon Musk or airlines, or closing airports.

Deploying untrained and unpaid ICE agents to replace unpaid TSA agents at airports could result in slower processing, or lower levels of airport security or both, not to mention more apprehensions of noncitizens for detention or extra questioning.

Congress members have long enjoyed special perks at DCA including special parking, double no penalty reservation privileges, special travel office services, as well as TSA line bypassing
