Every voice from Israel's political leadership this morning is calling on Israelis to be patient, to hold firm, and to look toward the future, insisting that Israel is achieving remarkable military objectives in Iran, and that every day sets Iran back a year. Some went so far as to praise Netanyahu for this great achievement. Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant: "The Iranian regime is still standing, functioning, and succeeding in launching missiles. But every day that passes, Israel accumulates achievements that will grant it years of calm. The assassination of Larijani should not be considered a decisive turning point. I suggest looking at things in a balanced way. Every day that passes equals a year forward. The coming days and weeks will determine the fate of the Middle East for decades." Reserve Brigadier General Avigdor Kahalani: "Israel is moving in the right direction. We must have patience, vision, and resolve—and in my view, the leadership has all of these today, which is why I am very optimistic. Our problem is that sometimes we listen to voices that weaken our resolve. After October 7, the naivety disappeared, and the people understood the scale of the danger. The State of Israel rose, and everyone now understands that we must fight for our existence. I believe the operation in Iran is historic—a moment worthy of its own chapter in the records of the Jewish people's history. We are winning. We should slow down with all this self-criticism. This is a great moment for Israel's existence." Reserve General Gadi Eisenkot: "I warn of additional rounds of fighting if military achievements are not translated into political steps. Unfortunately, this is something I saw as a member of the cabinet and pointed out—impressive military achievements that are not being used to achieve political gains."

You are not seeing a lot of news you should be seeing. The United States of America and Israel with your tax money are bombing two Middle East capitals, Beirut and Tehran, killing hundreds of civilians, in flagrant violation of international laws with absolutely no consequences.

Israel is a lie. Not just because it was founded on a lie, but because lying was required to make its existence appear natural, moral, and inevitable. They built a world out of the lie, and then taught the world to believe it. They said they were coming to a land without a people. They said they were coming to a barren desert, a wasteland of rocks, thorns, and swamps—and that they made it bloom. But Palestine was neither empty nor barren—for thousands of years there had been farmers who knew and loved the land through olives, onions, strawberries, and oranges. It was a country with newspapers and magazines, cinemas and theaters, a developed civic and agricultural life. None of this could appear in Zionist propaganda, because the existence of a people would have exposed the fraud on which the entire story depended. So the people had to be written out of the story before the land could be taken. That is why Israel is a lie. The tragedy is that even we—Arabs—have begun to believe this lie. The greater tragedy is that the world has accepted the original lie and continues to believe the lies Israel tells about itself—its innocence, its survival, and its restraint. What the world's acceptance of these lies made possible was a war against Iran—built on pretexts nobody believed, with objectives shifting by the day, producing ruin nobody will account for. Joe Kent's resignation is causing a major stir. He holds a senior and highly sensitive position in the US national security structure. House Speaker Mike Johnson responds: "We all clearly understood there was an imminent threat—that Iran was very close to enriching nuclear capabilities... I don't know where Joe Kent is getting his information... The President felt he had to strike first to prevent massive loss of life." Johnson asks where the director of the US National Counterterrorism Center gets his information. The same place Trump gets his. The difference is that one interprets it according to American interests, and the other according to Israeli interests.

Trump has recently tried to insist that Israel did not push him into this war, and that Iran posed a direct threat to America. He does so because the anger is widespread—even his supporters believe he is lying. The contradictions in his own statements make this clear. With the midterm elections approaching, this poses a problem he cannot talk his way out of.

Joe Kent, director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, has announced his resignation in protest against the war on Iran. In his resignation letter, Kent wrote that Iran posed no imminent threat to the United States and that the Trump administration clearly started this war under pressure from Israel and the Zionist lobby in America.

Women threw headscarves onto male worshippers on Laylat Al-Qadr at the Fatih Mosque in Istanbul, in protest at the silence of men over the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The act draws on a historical account—unverified but widely circulated. While Sultan Salah Al-Din Al-Ayyubi was touring to check on his subjects in Cairo or Hittin, a Muslim woman threw her headscarf before him. When he asked why, she said she had come from Jerusalem to tell him she could not walk through the city wearing her khimar to reach Al-Aqsa, because the city was under Crusader rule. This prompted the Sultan to advance the siege of Jerusalem, which ended with its liberation in 1187 AD.

Israeli police assault worshippers as they pray near Bab Al-Sahira in Jerusalem. Residents are trying to reach the closest point to Al-Aqsa Mosque to pray, but Israel is preventing them by force, having closed the mosque since the start of the war on Iran.

At a time when the land of the West Bank is being taken inch by inch, and settlements are rising on it, at a time when settlers—even their children—are being armed in broad daylight, the Authority is arresting resistance fighters in Jenin, while going "on leave" when settlers raid Palestinian towns and carry out their attacks. What kind of contradiction is this? What kind of reality hunts down the one defending his land, while leaving the aggressor untouched?

When the international community didn't stop Israel as it deliberately killed nearly 75,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including 20,000 children, Israel knew they could kill civilians with impunity. The result is exactly what we're seeing in Lebanon and Iran right now.

The region as a whole will not feel safe or stable until a just solution is found for the Palestinian cause. Ignoring it for decades and trying to maneuver around it changed nothing. It brought us instead to a shared danger in which everyone's life is now at risk. We have seen what we never expected or imagined, and God knows what the future holds. Neither the Abraham Accords, nor economic or intelligence partnerships, nor the "Deal of the Century," nor anything else protected the region. Some say, "The Palestinian cause is not my cause." But even if it is not your cause, you are bound up with it whether you like it or not. It is a religious cause, a humanitarian cause, a national cause, and a just cause. If leaders ignore it, the people will not. No matter how much discord is stirred up, and no matter how many billions are spent trying to strip people of their attachment to it, a single event is enough to bring it back to the surface and tear down every false narrative. You will not feel safe while that blessed land is desecrated, while blood is spilled there, and while injustice spreads across it. Simply put, on one side, many people of conscience and commitment will keep doing whatever they can to stop the injustice there, on humanitarian and religious grounds, and the consequences of that will reach you and your country. On the other side, the majority of extremist Israelis will seek to occupy your land, lie in wait for you, and work to weaken you, driven by religious fanaticism and by the slogans of the "Promised Land" and the intoxication of power and domination. You are part of this cause, whether you like it or not.

The assault on Iran is the latest act in a single continuous war against every force in the region that resists the order Israel and the U.S. have imposed over decades. That order's foundation is the permanent dispossession of Palestine—and from that conquered center, the violent reorganization of the entire region around Israeli dominance. Palestine is the question on which every other question in this region depends. Every war has been fought to settle it, and every negotiation has been calculated to defer it. What is happening now is the latest attempt to liquidate it, and in that sense, Gaza and Iran are two theatres of the same war. From "One Continuous War"—full article in the next post.
