The Fire &Emergency Services department is continuing to organise Fire Safety Awareness-cum-Mock Drill programmes across the state as a part of the Fire Safety Week 2026 to build confidence, preparedness, and awareness in handling fire emergencies.

Fire Service Week-2026 is solemnly observed at F&ES, Assam, HQ with a wreath laying ceremony, honoring our brave firefighters who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Let us pledge fire safety at home, workplace and in our communities.

NEWS | Fire & Emergency Services XI clinch GIDCT T-10 title in #Guwahati Fire & Emergency Services XI emerged champions of the fourth edition of the Guwahati Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament (GIDCT) T-10, which concluded on February 1, 2026, at the Beltola High School Playground in Guwahati. In the final match, Fire & Emergency Services XI defeated APRO XI by eight wickets to lift the title. Batting first, APRO XI posted a total of 95 runs in eight overs. Fire & Emergency Services XI comfortably chased down the target, sealing a convincing victory. APRO XI finished the tournament as runners-up, while Irrigation XI and Water Resources Department (WRD) XI jointly secured third place. The closing ceremony was attended by Ranbir Singh, retired IAS and Chairman of the Brahmaputra Board, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Several heads of departments and officials from participating teams were also present. The tournament was organised under the leadership of Saheed Zaman, Executive Engineer, WRD, who served as the organising committee president. Jinnat Ullah, Assistant Executive Engineer, Irrigation, was the secretary of the organising committee, with Mintumoni of APRO and Ghaneshyam from the Veterinary Department as assistant secretaries. Iftikar Hussain from the Brahmaputra Board was the treasurer. Individual performances were also recognised at the prize distribution ceremony. Jinnat Ullah was named Best Player of the Tournament. Manoj Borah of Fire & Emergency Services XI received the Man of the Series award, while Bhaskar Chamua, also from Fire & Emergency Services XI, was adjudged Man of the Match in the final. Sonti Kalita of APRO XI was awarded Best Fielder, Bhupen Das of Fire & Emergency Services XI won the Best Bowler award, and AHVD XI received the Fair Play Award. The organisers said the event once again succeeded in promoting sportsmanship, fitness and camaraderie among various government departments through competitive cricket. @FnESAssam #Assam

Flood Rescue Update @FnESAssam and SDRF teams continue to brave the elements. Yesterday alone, 441 people were rescued across 34 incidents, including special calls, fires, and landslides. With this, the total number of lives rescued has reached 5,488. @himantabiswa @HardiSpeaks
