@FnLeech It's not like Judge should have been forced to take the offer. He got 400 mil for 10 years which is just the better offer. Plus he got to stay in New York. Padres legit had to go into debt to pay their payroll, and MLB has limits for that stuff

For people saying this is unfair, the Dodgers annual CBT for Ohtani only goes down from $70 mil to $40 mil. When the Nationals signed Max Scherzer to a 7 year $210 mil deal, their annual CBT for him went from $30 mil to $15 as a result of deferrals. It’s perfectly legal

Shohei Ohtani's $700 million contract calls for him to be paid only $2 million a year for the next 10 seasons, with $680 million deferred until the end of the deal, sources confirm to ESPN. The CBT hit on the contract is going to be around $46 million, a huge discount for L.A.
