This just doesn’t jive with what I see day to day at my client base. LLMs autocomplete what is already present at about 80% fidelity, from a human capital and a code capital POV. It does not add signal, it only amplifies it with some additional noise.

I see software engineers managing coding agents, rather than predominantly writing code themselves. That’s not to say they won’t write code, they will, just much less. In these early days, they’ll still need to clean up issues the agents create or redirect them to fix things, but I expect even that to improve over time.
