I. FUCKING. LOVE. CALIFORNIA. Definitely going to do a lil job arc out here at some point. I just connected with someone with an impressive background who was critical to the development and success of his industry and is willing to mentor me 🤓😎 Let’s gooooo!

I love traveling for work so much. Next two weeks are going to be like a mini paid vacation and getting back just in time for my first con. Racking up tons of travel comp and collecting that per diem to cover con time/expenses.

Perseverance, luck, and a pretty big mindset shift. If something extremely difficult or stressful comes my way, I now see it as an opportunity to learn and grow. Embrace discomfort. It took me through 9 years, 3 degree programs, nearly failing, hitting the absolute lowest point in my life, and nearly giving up on it before I saw the road I was meant to travel. I always got back up no matter how bad I wanted to end things and started saying yes to almost any opportunity that came my way, even if I felt I wasn’t comfortable, ready, or qualified. This alone opened the door for me to network with people and get experience that I would have otherwise passed up. It’s because of the people I connected with through all of this that I got the hookups for a scholarship which landed me this job. A job that gives me the resources, connections, and lets me develop whatever skills and interests I want.

A 10% raise every 6 months for 3 years is pretty cool, but the access, networking, and collaboration with accomplished industry leaders and experts is where the true value lies. They weren’t kidding when they said “It isn’t what you know, but who you know that matters.”
