Not completely true and not completely false. The problem is the age bracket and experience. When they played Arsenal in Nov, they were just 4 points behind in 2nd place, the same thing as last year. Experienced players and coaches will dig in and stay competitive till the end.

Chelsea have signed a lot of average players for almost £2bn. That’s because the best players want the best wages. So if you aren’t going to pay the best wages, then you have to settle for second best, or even third or fourth best. That’s modern Chelsea under, unfortunately.
