Nigerians who studied the numbers before removal knew there was only one way out for our economy. Ours wasn’t even making sense , we were subsidizing two things at the same time with crazy loopholes and opportunities for people to make crazy money.
Your N1,000,000 in 2022 would have become 100,000 now if we hadn’t removed the subsidy . The Senegalese President is a populist which is why he wouldn’t consider removal. A pragmatic technocrat will remove subsidy.
Not easy in a poor and developing country tbh. I wish Senegal well. It’s a tough situation for them.

Senegal 🇸🇳 is really in a worse economic state. This could have been Nigeria if not for the tough economic decisions we made in 2023.

@Okeytony @ThisIsAdemuyiwa I'm sure you are aware that the EFCC is probing the PH scam and arrests and recoveries have been made.

@Okeytony @ThisIsAdemuyiwa Fuel in Iran is subsidised, but you must understand that it only applies to about 160 litres per month. In 2019, Iran tried to remove this subsidy, and it led to widespread protests. In 2023, we had no headroom to continue borrowing to fund fuel subsidies.
English

@Okeytony @ThisIsAdemuyiwa Another reason for the removal of the subsidy was to attract private investment into the sector. Positions like yours were part of the reason that, despite OBJ granting 18 private refinery licenses, little came out of it.
English

@FoluHRH @ThisIsAdemuyiwa A govt that cares about the masses will first of all remove the corruption in the subsidy to ascertain what is the actual consumption of Nigerians. No shouting subsidy gone on your first day of taking over. When you're done, then you check if you can actually subsidy it or not.

@OnyedikaOkoye10 @EUgwu28186 @renoomokri So do we fund infrastructure, for example, if we don't borrow?
English

@FoluHRH @EUgwu28186 @renoomokri But we are still borrowing to do things after subsidy removal and others
English

@EUgwu28186 @renoomokri It was the fastest growing but we were borrowing to pay salaries.
English

@renoomokri But towards the last tenure of good luck Jonathan, Nigeria had the fastest growing economy in African. And It reflected on the standard of living of people
English

@Okeytony @ThisIsAdemuyiwa Yes. That's why the government stopped borrowing to fund it.
English

@ThisIsAdemuyiwa Do you know that Nigerian fuel subsidy is a big scam?

@olatokunboogun6 @Omoologo2027 Time will tell. But I need to be convinced.
English

@FoluHRH @Omoologo2027 Its across the state. Numbers like that are expected.
English

@Ekiti2027 @Omoologo2027 The human mind struggles to accurately estimate the size of a crowd when the gathering is far larger than what it is used to see. I'm not getting carried away by the numbers.

@FoluHRH @Omoologo2027 Watch some of the videos of the primary elections

@DavidsOffor If you believe this, I have a beach house to sell to you at Aso Dtive.

@Fearthegodso @dcryptosailor The only thing he needed to do was to get the assembly on his side, but he couldn't. Who's fault is that?
English

@dcryptosailor No one misled fubara. He’s a smelly weakling who couldn’t stand for anything. At every point he was always quick to betray whoever stood with him and cower to wike and Tinubu. If he had half a spine, ppl would have backed him strongly and held on
