One thing I learned from studying psychotherapy: People often call something “submission” when they actually mean relief. Relief from decision-making. Relief from hypervigilance. Relief from constantly performing a self. Sometimes what we eroticize is not power itself, but the temporary permission to rest our nervous system inside another person’s structure. That deserves more honesty than most conversations allow.
