This afternoon, the #SafeBirthAfrica monitoring and visibility mission met with DG Health Services @MinofHealthUG @olaro_charles who appreciated the initiatives contribution to strengthening maternal and newborn health through prevention and management of postperterm haemorrhage.

𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 We’re kicking off this weekly #CEHURDPublications series with two closely connected publications that tackle a question at the heart of adolescent health and rights: who gets to decide? Developed by CEHURD, 𝙇𝙖𝙬𝙨, 𝙋𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙙𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙐𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖 and 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙚𝙭𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝘼𝙙𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙐𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖 examine how the legal and policy environment in Uganda shapes young people’s ability to make decisions about their own health care. The first publication maps the broader legal and policy framework, highlighting contradictions and gaps that leave adolescents in a gray area. The second goes deeper into practice, focusing specifically on sexual and reproductive health services and how consent is interpreted and applied within service delivery settings. These resources make a strong case for aligning laws, policies, and health practices with adolescents’ evolving capacities so their rights, dignity, and wellbeing are meaningfully protected.
