Lots of Europe’s biggest clubs are pursuing Yan Diomande, the 19-year-old Ivorian two-footed winger who plays for RB Leipzig. Liverpool were interested but had an opening bid rejected. Reports also suggest that Manchester City and Arsenal made enquiries a few days ago. However, the two clubs currently leading the race for his signature are Real Madrid and PSG. The 2025/26 season was his breakout campaign, as he recorded 12 goals and 8 assists in the Bundesliga. According to reports, RB Leipzig rejected an offer of €80 million plus €20 million in add-ons from Liverpool, as well as €90 million plus €10 million in add-ons from Real Madrid. They are said to be holding out for around €130 million. Do I think he’s worth that amount? No, I don’t. I may not have watched every single one of his matches, but I’ve seen enough of him at club level, as well as all of his performances at AFCON and the World Cup. He doesn’t strike me as a player who should command that kind of fee, even in today’s inflated transfer market. Personally, I think Yan Diomande needs to stay at RB Leipzig for at least one or two more seasons. The clubs he’s aspiring to join will quickly move on if his performances don’t match their expectations. At Leipzig, however, he can continue to develop into a more complete and well-rounded winger without the pressure of justifying a nine-figure transfer fee. Real Madrid, in particular, is not a club that patiently nurtures players who are struggling to produce. If you’re not delivering consistently, they’ll simply look elsewhere. Another season or two at Leipzig could do far more for his long-term development than an immediate move to one of Europe’s superclubs.

It was a fun game today for Manchester United fans . They shouldn’t even be excited about the scoreline as much as the team overall performance. Zirkzee looked much stronger on the ball today than he did against Wrexham. Mount was moving like a baby Bruno. Santos is such a joy to watch, anywhere you see a blue shirt in midfield putting in a tackle, don’t worry, it’s Santos. Heaven was calm and composed. 🤣 Yoro was decent, and although Mbeumo got caught on the ball a few times, he was always willing to track back and made some excellent runs. Lacey was superb, if he isn’t going to get meaningful minutes with the first team, they should loan him out. Maguire and Shaw were solid as well. Dorgu had some good moments but was still a bit sloppy at times. Kamason looks like he knows exactly what he’s doing. Harry Amass was very good today, and his goal contribution was just a bonus. Carrick seems to have a hidden agenda with Devaney based on the way he’s been using him, and whatever it is, we’ll find out soon enough.

City were already negotiating for Donnarumma before the season started. The plan had always been for him to be the backup goalkeeper. It’s not as if he’s the first goalkeeper to make a mistake, and even Donnarumma himself has made errors that directly led to goals. Few mistakes shouldn’t suddenly change the narrative around a player’s quality.

Chelsea paid £117m for Rogers a few days ago and, considering how inflated the market has become and the fees being paid for players with lesser profiles this window, it’s a reasonable price. What surprises me, though, is Aston Villa’s interest in Garnacho. I remember Unai Emery was interested in him before Manchester United sold him to Chelsea, but after the abysmal season he just had, I wouldn’t have expected a club like Aston Villa to still be in for him. If Aston Villa do sign him, this could be Garnacho’s last chance at a serious Premier League club. He needs to lock in and focus on his football. Not many players go from being part of the bomb squad at two Premier League giants and still attract interest from another top club. The talent has never been in doubt. The attitude, consistency and maturity are what he needs to get right now.
