NOT GUILTY YET!
Unfortunately, much of the public commentary on the arrest of Kwame Ohene Frimpong, Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North constituency in Holland on suspicion of committing an international crime paints him as a criminal.
Well, the position of the law is clear.
Until he has been convicted by a competent court of law, Frimpong remains a suspect and has rights which ought to be respected.
These rights include access to lawyers of his choice, his right to remain silent, and to be free of torture.
Credible reports say that Frimpong is under investigation in connection with alleged financial crimes involving money laundering and suspected online romance scams amounting to nearly $32 million.
The investigations leading to his arrest are said to have lasted for more than a year.
