Gutter journalism. #FakeLaw from beginning to end. 1. Khan was not “given £350,000”. This is a lie. That was the overall cost of legal aid in his criminal proceedings in 2012. This is like saying someone who receives a NHS heart transplant is “given” the cost of the operation.

Occupational therapy = The deliberate application of occupation as a therapeutic medium – to achieve a defined occupational goal. #otalk @theRCOT twitter.com/ForensicDetail…

In 2016 - i set myself the challenge to define occupational therapy in a tweet - with the launch of the #rcotstrategicintentions including 'positioning for the 21st century' does it still fit the bill??? 1/2 #otalk

Is anyone else the only OT in their service? I have just started in a service predominantly made up of psychologists and am really keen to think about how to hold onto my OT identity!

Whilst in the same breath recognising there is little research into this. problem is that ‘rehabilitation’ is ill defined, not prioritised, and not what is actually offered. intervention to facilitate lasting change like occupational therapy is not widely available or accessible

My doctoral research produced an intervention precisely for this purpose. Next stage is research on its implementation and effectiveness @KKSoodLaw

The @hmpps probation staff who partook in and supported my research would bite my hand off of for a resource like occupational therapy @KKSoodLaw

My heart 😭 "When a soccer player's hijab started falling off to reveal her hair, her opponents gathered around to provide cover while she fixed it." This is what EMPATHY looks like. This is what HUMANITY looks like. This is what HOPE looks like. We need more of this ❤

@LizDurrant19 I see. And get why triggering. I use ‘my’ e.g. colleagues/student - they’re not mine, but I’m describing them in relation 2me as opposed 2 random ppl. tend 2be ‘people I work with’ plural, or persons name singular. staff use my/your to make sure the care for that person is done.

@ForensicDetail for me feeling in control/not feeling controlled by someone is important to me. Feeling like someone else has power over me, especially someone who makes decisions about my care, treatment, diagnosis, Liberty is really triggering. Possessive lang from said person exasperates this

Dear MH professionals, Please stop calling your equal human citizens ‘MY Patients’. I do not belong to you. I am not a possession you own. You are providing a service to me. I am your fellow citizen. I am your equal. Ta very much
