In 2024, Kentucky had a starting five that began their careers at SDSU, BYU, OU, Delaware, & Drexel. Fully healthy, they beat the eventual national champs and were Elite 8 caliber.
If that roster were built this offseason, it would likely be criticized.
Not saying this year's team will succeed or fail, just saying maybe we should let it play out.

@johndoe38085738 @KySportsRadio Pope made the Sweet 16 his 1st year and the round of 32 his 2nd. He hasn’t had a healthy team or PG yet at Kentucky. I’m not a Pope lover but have to give credit, he got the more out of lesser talented teams. He needs to hire a GM to grab recruits because he sucks at it.

Of all the braindead things I read here, people calling @PolacheckKSR a Kansas plant to hurt Kentucky with Tyran Stokes — or even suggesting a grad of one school shouldn’t cover another school — are the braindeadest. Jacob is a good dude who works hard.

@johndoe38085738 @KySportsRadio Yes, my point exactly! Cal gets all the talent but gets beat by teams like Oakland and Saint Peter’s. Who cares if he has all the talent, it doesn’t mean squat if he can get past a first or second weekend in the tournament. I guess you can hang a banner for getting talent.

@DylanBallard_UK Jacob has to be non biased because he works for KSR. He can’t openly root for his team, it wouldn’t work out too well. Fans would rather have someone on their side, he seems like a good guy though.

Jacob loves the grind and think fans have a hard time correlating some people out there aren’t “die hard” fans anymore when they take a job.
Most media are fan media anymore but some aren’t.

@PolacheckKSR and I talk most days, and he became a great friend.
More than that, he is one of, if not the most talented person in this industry… he literally grinds daylight till dark.
He reports good and bad, and despite that literal SID’s from UK, talk about how good he is.

I truly get the frustration with the recruiting efforts, the PR, and last season.
I truly believe that everyone understands that Mark Pope has to succeed next year, but most fans are completely writing next season off, and that’s extremely premature.

I personally do not think this is a Kentucky-caliber roster, and it likely will not get much better.
However, I will not aim the deserved criticism at the guys who signed up to wear the Kentucky jersey. I'm behind this team no matter what.

Onto the next in the Potential Transfer Portal Players I’d like to see Kentucky contact. (#4) G/F Tounde Yessoufou. 6’5 215. • 18.0p. • 5.8r. • 1.6a. • 2.1s. • 47/32/75. (52 3PM) • 32.3mpg. Being transparent, I wouldn’t have had Tounde on here at all throughout the season, he seemed to be Draft Bound and a lottery pick, however he’s been slipping on boards recently, I mean as far as mid 2nd round. Now obviously that doesn’t mean everything, workouts will also change things, but if he stays around that range, just wonder if he’d consider that return to college, and go next year in a significantly weaker draft class. I probably don’t have to tell you much about Tounde you don’t already know, elite motor, elite athleticism, the 3P shooting consistency, and shot selection are definitely areas he needs to improve on, but he’s still shown flashes of being serviceable there, nothing wrong with his shooting mechanics. His ability to get downhill is up there with anyone, you’ll probably notice some Otega Oweh similarities watching his tape, but if he does return and enter the portal, Kentucky HAS to make him a priority. Don’t make the same mistake you made last year passing on him! #BBN #KentuckyBasketball
