Beautiful and delicious perennial basil growing in Canberra, 🇦🇺. In a food forest, perennial basil grows as a herbaceous plant. There are different types of basil species with different leaf shapes and flavours. What variety do you prefer? 🌿 (📸 by IG @canberrafoodforest)

THIS MORNING DISCOVERY: I found grapes! There are a lot of ripe grapes on my property & while they are wild, they are very sweet. I feel like a child in the candy store, discovering all kinds of yumminess growing wild in my homestead. #wild #organic #grapes #foodforest #Florida

#Permaculture principle “small and slow solutions”. We have been preparing the land for a food forest for a few years. Over the last year we planted trees that produce edible crop- cherry, fig, heart nut and yesterday we planted some beechnut. #foodforest @AfriNoonPerm

Stage 1 of path making has started in the Food Forest! These paths won't be connecting to the roadway this year, but we want to get the ones closest to the plants done first so we don't disturb the roots. #foodforest #frederictonbotanicgarden

Step into our 1.5-acre food forest design in Kitale, Western Kenya. Exercising syntropic agriculture and permaculture modelling, we zone areas thematically according to their output. youtu.be/dI8vBzTlG8k

Do you remember the permaculture favourite? 🤓 Here we have another pic from pollinator.sanctuary (IG), who’s captured a photo of the sorrel plant in Oregon, 🇺🇸! It has bright lime-green leaves with dark red veins, which are best harvested when young and used raw in salads 🍃

From @growntocook 🇬🇧 Isn’t this beautiful? We have a sea of flowering lupines hugging a pear tree🍐In a food forest, Lupines are a useful addition as a herbaceous plant that fixes nitrogen into the soil. Their snowy spikes of flowers can be of different colors, from blue to red✨

(📸 by IG @dianaverse_plantmysteries | 🇺🇸 Pacific Northwest) Could you say that these are peppers? Precisely, Szechuan peppers, captured at the @beaconfoodforest They have an interesting pink ornamental pod which covers a spicy numbing pepper, used a lot in some Asian cuisines 🌶
