This week I’ll sign a new contract with @DunningGolf and I want to take a quick minute to text quickly about what they have meant to me. (Stick w me on a long one) I had just left Firepit. I had no clue what I was going to do. One of their executives had followed me for a long time and reached out. Said they would help me. It was the first time i thought maybe i had a shot to make it on my own. We had a six month contract and it expired. But they honored it for another 10 months. No questions asked. Sent me clothes. Sent my wife clothes. Sent Mark clothes. They have never said a single word about my content. Not one phone call, text, or email. I’ve said stupid things on Twitter, I’ve taken on the pga tour, i wrote an article critical of lpga Q-school. Dunning is a sponsor of the LPGA. Made the Solheim outfits. They didn’t say a word. They sent me to (and paid for) trips to LPGA events, events they were sponsors for. I criticized some things when I was there. Again not a word. Never asked me to take down a tweet, never called me about an article, never have asked me to not write something. I don’t know much about sponsorships, but I feel like that is very rare. They send clothes to schools for our foundation, never have charged us a dime. Truly growing the game. They are 100% the main reason we are still at this. I am determined to remain independent, to write stories i think are important. And for the foreseeable future I’ll do it wearing Dunning I’m beyond lucky to do this job. It has made me happier in my life. My marriage is better because of it, I’m a better dad. It has given me the foundation, which has had a profound impact on my life. None of that happens without Dunning. I would have been done a long time ago. Yes they make great clothes. I truly love them. It’s easy to talk about when you aren’t selling anything, you are just telling how you feel. But it’s about more than the clothes. It’s the company itself. So the next time you think about buying clothes I hope you consider Dunning. Yes for the great clothes, but also for supporting my foundation and for me. I can’t thank them enough.
