Seemingly, some positive news on Nikolaj Ehlers (lower-body) and Alexander Nikishin (concussion) from Rod Brind'Amour. "I'm hopeful that both guys will be ready (for Round 2)." The head coach specifically said, "Everything is trending in the right direction" for Nikishin.

I'm a little worried that the canes come out of the gate against PHI/PIT a little slow given the rest, a fresher opponent, and a tendency to underestimate weaker seeming teams (at least during the regular season). My hope is that they come out ready to play. All of these playoff teams are good and require the same outlook and effort to beat. I feel like the Canes are locked in! The playoffs are different animal and this team is a different beast as soon as they start! Just got to come out ready and take it! #CarolinaCulture

Alexander Nikishin was diagnosed with a concussion during Game 4 in Ottawa. He returned with the team to Raleigh where he will continue the NHL’s protocol for a safe return to play.

One update from Carolina/Ottawa Game 4: Alexander Nikishin was seen cheering the Hurricanes at the end of the game, and celebrating with them after. We’ll wait for a formal update, but good news considering how he looked after taking that massive hit.
