Shortly after 4am today, the Fort Worth Fire Department Fire Alarm Office received multiple calls about a house fire in the 2900 block of 8th Avenue. As the first crews arrived to the scene, they saw heavy fire from the front of a one-story home as well as three cars on fire in the driveway. The firefighters began an offensive attack while crews searched the home for anyone that may still be inside. As they battled the blaze, two vehicles next door caught fire and the neighboring home in danger of being engulfed next. Firefighters used several hand lines during the operation and the fire was declared under control within 25 minutes. They were successful in stopping the fire from fully spreading to the neighboring home although it sustained moderate damage. Five vehicles total and the original one-story home were destroyed in this fire. Thankfully there were no reported injuries. The @RedCrossNTX was called to the scene to provide the residents (6 adults/1 child) immediate emergency assistance. The cause of the fire has been deemed to be accidental. Stay safe, #FortWorth.

The @CityofFortWorth has revamped its alert and warning system. ReadyFW is the City’s newly branded mass notification system designed to deliver real-time, reliable and trusted information directly to residents and City employees during emergencies and critical community events. Powered by the advanced capabilities of the Motorola RAVE platform, ReadyFW allows the City to send alerts through multiple channels, including text messages, phone calls and emails to reach subscribers quickly so they can make informed decisions. Citywide emergency alerts are crucial for keeping residents informed about threats to their safety and health. Alerts may include weather warnings, emergency alerts, public safety alerts, readiness and preparedness information and community resilience updates. These alerts are designed to ensure residents are informed and can take appropriate actions to protect themselves, their homes, their businesses, their neighbors and their community. Previously, CodeRed alerts were sent from 769-93 (or 76993) and phone calls were sent from 1-800-566-9780. Alerts will now be sent from 77295. Residents can opt in to receive text messages just like CodeRed, and by registering for alerts, they’re also creating a Smart911 profile for themselves. The process remains the same: 📲: Texting "START" to the short code will resume/reinstate the messages. 📲: Texting "STOP" will cancel alert messages. 💻: Residents can also register here (tinyurl.com/yrn67d2m) To continue receiving alerts and engagement, everyone must re-register in ReadyFW, as any existing registrations will not automatically transfer over. The City will include a verifiable official link or callback option for residents to confirm it’s a valid message. Stay safe, #FortWorth.

Just before 12:30 this morning, the Fort Worth Fire Department Alarm Office received numerous calls regarding a structure fire along old Highway 80 and Longvue in the 9900 block of Richland Street on the west side of town. Crews were immediately assigned to the incident and received updates from FAO on the way to the scene that neighbors were reporting sounds of explosions and that there was a barn of horses being evacuated. Upon arrival, crews found a large outbuilding (that contained a garage, shop and barn) fully engulfed in flames. The explosions that were reported were the propane tanks and other flammables inside the building. Firefighters pulled a line and began an aggressive attack on the fire. Thankfully, the horses were safely evacuated from the structure and there were no injuries to any of the animals or people on scene. Firefighters fought the fire and carefully contained it to the one structure so it did not spread to the main house. Arson investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire which is still under investigation. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters worked to recover what sentimental items they could from the structure to give to the homeowners including keepsakes and photo albums. Stay safe, #FortWorth.

Just around 2am today, the Fort Worth Fire Department Alarm Office received multiple calls regarding a residence on fire in the 5000 block of Dilworth on the Westside. In the midst of stormy skies and pouring down rain, crews were dispatched to the scene. When the first crews arrived on scene, they found fire coming from a carport that was quickly spreading to the attached one-story home. Firefighters laid a line and began their attack. While crews worked in the pouring rain to extinguish the fire, other crews searched the home to find anyone that may be trapped. Firefighters located two dogs inside the home, one requiring immediate medical attention and oxygen on scene for smoke inhalation. Thankfully, firefighters were able to save the dog and reunite both with their owners. The fire was under control within 15 minutes of arrival but the home sustained severe damage. The @RedCrossNTX was called to the scene to provide emergency assistance. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Stay safe, #FortWorth.

Just before 9pm last night, during a severe thunderstorm, the Fort Worth Fire Department Alarm Office received multiple calls from neighbors reporting a home on fire due to a lightning strike in the 4200 block of Leeds Drive. Neighbors immediately ran to the house, banging on the front door, to ensure everyone was outside safely. The first crews on scene saw a quick moving fire coming from the roof of a two-story corner home and began an initial interior attack. Firefighters stretched additional lines inside the home to access the attic. After 20 minutes of actively fighting the fire offensively, the Safety Officer on scene called for an evacuation of the home and the Incident Commander switched to defensive operations. For over an hour, firefighters battled the blaze as well as protecting the homes on either side of the fire from exposure. The chimney collapsed into the roof but thankfully there were no injuries as everyone had been removed from the structure. The Incident Commander declared the fire under control at 10:35pm. Stay safe, #FortWorth.

[3/2]- Good afternoon Fort Worth! ☀️ The weather this week is gearing up to be rather unpredictable but with a good chance for severe weather and heavy rain as we move throughout the week to Saturday. ☔️⛈️ Here at the Fort Worth Fire Department we have spent the past few months talking to you about cold weather safety. ❄️➡️⛈️ It's time to shift gears into that severe weather mindset. ✅ Have your emergency bag packed and ready with 72 hours of goods (including medication and pet essentials) ✅ Clean out your safe place and stock it with flashlights, boots (always be in your safe spot with shoes on), a weather radio, and any other emergency supplies you can have on hand. ✅ Create a communication plan with your family as to what you will do if severe weather hits our area. And ensure that communication plan includes when family members are traveling. Plan ahead so you're not on the road when the severe weather strikes! ✅ Just like you do with a fire escape plan, PRACTICE going to your safe place with your family to ensure you're prepared when the time comes to seek shelter. Continue to monitor the forecast this week with the @NWSFortWorth and keep your eyes on the sky. We're watching right along with you and are preparing too. Stay safe, #FortWorth!

Late yesterday afternoon, the Fort Worth Fire Alarm Office received multiple calls from eyewitnesses who saw an SUV drive off the road and collide into the garage of a one-story home in the 2300 block of Mistletoe Drive. Within 3 minutes, Engine 8 and Truck 8 were on scene. The crews found a gray SUV embedded into the side of a home. They requested Squad 2 to the scene. This would bring specialized tools and equipment that are not carried on the engines to the incident. No one inside the home was injured and the driver of the vehicle was transported in good condition to a local hospital. Squad 2 and Support 2 worked to shore up the house while a tow truck pulled the SUV from the inside. With assistance from the @fortworthpd , the Squad crew cleaned away any hazards and secured the garage with lumber. You’ll also see that one of our Captains carried some trash cans out to the @CityofFortWorth trash truck. Unfortunately, all of the fire apparatus on scene were blocking the trash truck’s route. He made sure to take that extra step to bring the homeowner’s can to the truck so that they wouldn’t miss trash day. Sometimes it’s just little acts of kindness that count when someone is already having a really bad day. Stay safe, #FortWorth.

Yesterday the Fort Worth Fire Department joined Batson-Cook Construction and Komatsu for a special milestone in the construction of the new Station 16. 🏗️🧱 The "Topping Out" event is a tradition that date backs more than one thousand years and celebrates the placement of the final beam at the highest point of the structure under construction. It marks the completion of the framework. Before the final beam is lifted into place, it is painted and signed by all of the workers and stakeholders involved in the construction project. 👷‍♀️👷 Additionally, an evergreen tree is placed alongside the American flag to symbolize good luck, growth and a safe (incident free) completion of the entire project.🌲🇺🇸 We are excited for the new station to be completed late summer/ early fall of this year! We will be sure to keep you updated so you can join us in the Grand Opening! Stay safe, #fortworth.

Last evening, the Fort Worth Fire Department Alarm Office received multiple calls of an abandoned building on fire in the 2900 block of East Rosedale Street on the east side of the city. Engine 14 arrived within 2 minutes to find a 2-story commercial structure with heavy smoke showing. Crews immediately began the task of extinguishing the fire but also looking for anyone that may be inside. Although reported “abandoned,” firefighters never assume no one is inside. Upon entering the building, they found a room that was on fire at the rear end of the structure and that fire had spread to the ceiling. Thankfully, as they cleared the building, they found no one inside. The fire was under control within 20 minutes. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Stay safe, #fortworth.
