In recent decades the evangelical world has been taught to ask one singular question, “Is this a gospel issue?” Through books and podcasts, even the creation of entire ministries, we have been discipled to look at everything through that singular lens. But is everything a gospel issue? While well intentioned, the gospel-centered movement has hindered Christians in rightly understanding and responding to a number of issues in our day. That’s because not everything is a gospel issue. Some issues must be addressed in light of God’s law. The same good God who gave us the gospel, also gave us the law, and He loves His Law as much as He loves His gospel. In fact, neither can be fully understood or appreciated without seeing the relationship between them. Recovering the doctrine of Law and Gospel is essential to living well in the world that God has made. It will also spend examine partitive exegesis in Christological theology, mediation, and the Covenant of Redemption. Furthermore, the course will examine how these doctrines correlate with Federal Headship, Active Obedience, and the High Priesthood of Christ.
