Yesterday, NORAD fighter jets via US aircraft, escorted two passenger planes to Montreal-Trudeau International following a reported security incident. The planes landed safely, and two men were arrested.  FBI surveillance uncovered a plot by two Canadian teens to simultaneously attack their high schools. The FBI shared this critical intelliengece with Interpol who gave it to Canadian authorities leading to their arrests. Yeah, we don't need America. 🙄

A peace keeper nation? Were we peacekeepers in Korea, Gulf War, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Libya or Iraq? Are we peacekeepers in Latvia? If we have no enemies, why exactly are we spending $49 billion this coming FY on the military? Surely a country with no enemies could spend a lot less money on the military, no?

Anyone arguing that Canada over the last 70 years hasn’t lived under the US military umbrella while we chose to invest billions into social programs while neglecting our defence spending is either simply ignorant or being purposely obtuse. This includes our commitments to both NORAD & NATO. For far too long we’ve ignored our own sovereignty & put our incredible brave troops in harm’s way without the proper weapons, equipment & support systems. It’s time we got off our high horse & recognized that the choices every gov from Pearson onwards made us more vulnerable & reliant on the US military at home & abroad. If voters want Carney or Poilievre to actually change that, I’m all for it, but time & time again when given the choice, voters have always chosen more gov social programs & when troubled economic times roll around, the military is the first choice for cuts!

Elections are supposed to be a contest of ideas. A time when Canadians vote for the party, or the leader, that aligns with their vision for this country.
