@ReissOmari I am sure that in Birmingham, contractors have six months to replace the original paving. What is the case in Solihull? Why is it left for such a long time. It ruins the wonderful layout of this area. Who was the contractor and should they not be contacted by your council?

Still can’t believe the contractors got away with this, absolutely no care for their work and probably got overpayed for this shambolic patch up, where have the bricks ended up and why weren’t they replaced when the work was completed?

@moseleyinbloom Same happened in Acocks Green. Funds are not easy to come by and more had to be spent by us. Just one or two people spoil it for the thousands - it is good that it will never put us off trying to keep our suburb good for people to visit despite challenges.

We sadly report that our floral display in the planter on Salisbury Road has again been vandalised with plants removed/stolen. This is now the second time that it has happened in a short period of time and unfortunately it is unlikely we can replace them. #canthaveanythingnice

There’s a storm on the horizon locally and its only going to get worse. Communities like ours shouldn’t be pimped out, exploited or used for personal point scoring and gain. It’s not only those doing it in the limelight but those doing it in quiet corners where vulnerabilities.

This is good for our team to see. This year, we have noticed more problems on the high street, not to mention the graffiti. Hopefully these people will help to deter this and make our 'village' a good place to be. The shopkeepers will be pleased!

PCSO’s Ludford & Bannister have just completed a walk with Acock’s Green Street Watch members in Acocks Green Village. We have been engaging with all local businesses and talking to members of the public about local issues. Thank you to our Street Watch Members! #StreetWatch

We were really lucky to have a visit from Councillor Zafar Iqbal today where our School Council discussed things that are being done to make our local area safer. We got lots of ideas about things we can do too- so watch this space.

Our festival of the year reminder for Saturday 4th May - Band Acoustica will background a beekeeper, seed sowing, face painting and lots of stalls. We would not have bloom in our title if we did not sell lots of plants - vegetable and flowers - see our tulips as well

Saturday 4th May. The event that inspires the residents to visit Acocks Green village and see the bees, buy honey, have your face painted and buy flower and veg plants - also see the many stallholders with crafts - one will even paint your portrait! Band Acoustica is with us.

A trombone concert organised by the Friends of Acocks Green Library. This is a fundraiser for those extra items which the library needs. This week a census is being taken of the number of people visiting the library -get down there - your footfall may help to keep it open.

As we enter Britain in Bloom, we have used some of the funding to celebrate their 60 year anniversary holding a 'Bloomin' Good Night' at a local social club

The scouts have put lot of effort into this. What consisted of weedy borders now looks good throughout the year. It is a pleasure to see. The daffodils are now starting to come through. Clever planting with drought tolerant perennials and spreading plants to combat the weeds

Catching the train from Spring Road station allows me to enjoy the results of the work of the 260th Scouts to plant the verges of the platforms with flowers and shrubs.

@Brill_Brum @robkewley77 @JoeTurner1978 @jordanbhx It is good to know that our efforts are noticed at large. I think it just takes like minded people who do this for the love of the area. It is not just gardening - it's the fabric and cleanliness of the place which needs maintaining. Just flowers on their own are not enough

@rogerbhx Have heard on the radio and read in the paper about some awful fatal accidents on the road during the last few days. I do not think that some people know how to or practice driving safely - I think a tougher driving test should be introduced.

I have noticed more cars knocking down walls - two at the meeting with Shirley Road and Hazelwood and some of our planters knocked sideways despite their weight - one planter knocked from one side of a drive to another. I feel that the driving test should be made more difficult.

It's important that this is investigated and not written off as an accident. A mother and child were extremely lucky to escape this entirely preventable incident uninjured.

Not content to just garden, attend social events, remove litter and graffiti, our attention turned to the front of Acocks Green library. We obtained pavers and asked JW Services if they would do the job of laying them. It now has perfect symmetry and looks wonderful.

Last year this event was magical. The music reflected Christmas through many hundreds of years bringing us up to mid 50s with the song which included 'Chestnuts Roasting..' Join us with mulled wine and mince pies plus candles all round at St Mary's Warwick Road Acocks Green
