I had to do it, I bought the @dalepartridge apology book so you don't have to. While most of us would have expected such a book to be sizable, this miniature book arrived in the mail yesterday. The SD card and Chapstick are not novelty size... it is hard to even call it a book. Just skimmed through it, but so far, it's just a collection of the claims he has already made, explaining away his bad behavior. More to come... #dalepartridge

Just finished Jeremiah as a family in our straight read-through of the Bible. One interesting phenomenon: around the middle of Jeremiah, the sense of doom becomes nearly overwhelming. Never ending warnings and judgments. It really puts the beauty of the Gospels in perspective.

@MrMRCline @naval For many, it is enough to simply read aloud for 3-5 minutes at the beginning of the reading session until the reading muscles have been warmed up sufficiently - at that point they will naturally want to speed up and switch to silent reading.

@MrMRCline @naval I also perceive reading as a skill that can atrophy with neglect and grow with practice just like any other skill. Many who are struggling focusing on reading need to go “back to the basics” and read aloud instead of trying to go immediately into “advanced” silent reading.

How to read more: Beginner - Read first thing in the morning. 10 pages. - Read what you love until you love to read. @naval Intermediate - Audiobooks can help you consume more, but they can't substitute for reading. - Read widely. Read old things. Read good writing. Advanced - Track what you read. - Build a personal canon. Find the books worth rereading every year. - Write what you read. Journal or p ost about it. What am I missing?
