@pj_schreiner @drjohnmeade Just wrote a paper on the use of Isaiah in John 12:20-43 for my Gospels class this semester. Greeks coming to Jerusalem, their request "to see" him, and his response to the situation and to the crowd in the rest of the chapter seems to suggest Isaiah is on John's mind!

John 12:37–38 seems to imply that Jesus is the "arm of the Lord." Thus, we should go back to the Old Testament and see the Son in this imagery.

@WesleyLHuff A favorite spot there (I was there in March) is the list of authorized books from the council-and one that is missing? Revelation! It was a disputed text at the time no doubt, but it’s interesting that a book with such a pointed letter from our Lord to Laodacia is omitted.
