Wow it’s 3 years ago that I was sectioned for ~3 months for schizophrenia I’ve been stable for 2.5 years now on meds that help me live a normal-ish life & thrive 3 years ago I was ill & vulnerable… now I’m privileged to be a doctor myself, helping other ill people to recover

I’m just a girl

Now I’m in hospital on a section 3, wondering if I’ll ever get past year 4. But now I’m a whole two years behind where I should be. That makes me feel like a failure.

But I eventually came around to the idea, its okay its only a year behind. Then I started my repeat fourth year again but the med school decided that I wasn’t able to continue this academic year and to wait till next year. I had no choice and was suspended on health grounds

I can’t help but think that I am a failure because I’m not where I thought I should be. That feeling sucks. This academic year I was due to graduate from med school - but my MH had other plans. Initially, it was difficult to understand why I had to pause things.
