@TheBrianHopkins All of this , exactly. Reagan was a disaster we might never recover from, certainly won’t without recognizing it and the problems to fix.

When Reagan was President I was a teen who attended an overwhelmingly white school in Mississippi. I thought maybe I should do some more research on the Reagan era because my blood red environment may have skewed my view as I now question everything I knew. I bought a couple books on the Reagan era. One written by a right wing author & the other by a left winger. I must say that the right wing book enlightened me far more and after reading it I came to the following conclusion. What the f#%* is wrong with you people? This guy was a monster! Aside from his fight against communism, his entire presidency was about oppression of the poor, minorities & mostly the LGBTQ! I knew Reaganomics was the grandfather of trickle down economics which is an unparalleled economic disaster, but I now fully believe that many of the racist, sexist, homophobic & xenophobic policies of today came from him. Now in fairness, I do believe he had Alzheimer’s while in office, so his administration may be the ones truly to blame. Trump may have perfected exclusion but the Reagan administration sure as shit invented it! Aside from fighting communism & totalitarianism the Reagan years were a disaster for non-white America. Keep in mind I haven’t even finished the left wing book. I got all this from a supposedly favorable book. #BrianHopkinsforCongress
