Remembering the wonderful actor Peter Vaughan, BOTD 1923. Always a magnetic presence, be it in 'straight' drama or comedic plays and sitcoms. Amidst an array of stars in Remains of the Day he sparkled in the heart-breaking role of Mr Stevens Senior. A quite brilliant performance.

A happy 91st birthday to Julian Glover. What a magnificent career on stage, screen & television across seventy years. From the RSC to 007, Quatermass and the Pit to Indiana Jones. As a child, I always felt that his villainous roles on TV always came with depth and edge. Magnetic.

Wonderful role for George Cole in Gideon's Way as Mr Bishop, a quietly-spoken man turned arsonist after his wife and daughter are killed in a tenement fire. Cole brought great subtlety to the part of a man descending into insanity.
