I’m sorry that I’d not seen the details of this appalling arrest of people nowhere near the coronation. I’m aware I and Republic have been the main focus of coverage of the arrests and assault on our democracy. I hope these other stories get heard and provoke equal outrage.

Is this democracy? Does this look like a government who respects our right to protest? Today some 20 people were arrested at an Animal Rising NonViolence training miles from the coronation. Today, a billionaire and his family are enjoying a lavish celebration as he is crowned King of a country of unrest, full of citizens unable to feed themselves or heat their homes. We are citizens not subjects. Our right to peaceful protest is slipping away in front of our eyes, and there has never been a more crucial time to act than now. We are the people - they can't silence us with parades and jewels, handcuffs and cells. We are stronger than that, and we must continue to rise. This evening three Met police officers visited my home to hand back my phone and the luggage straps. They apologised while wearing a body cam. I made it clear the apology is not accepted as we will be taking further action.

We have just been told that the police will be taking no further action. This has been a disgraceful episode and we will be speaking to lawyers about taking legal action. I also expect a full inquiry into why they repeatedly lied to us and who authorised the arrests.

Yesterday I got arrested whilst filming a @JustStop_Oil supporter holding a banner on the pavement near the coronation route. I'm a filmmaker and had my @BECTU press accreditation visible around my neck. Police deemed this to be "conspiracy to commit a public nuisance".
