You have every right to know what your government is doing, and they have no right to know what you are doing. That is why they are called public servants and we are called private citizens. Instead, the relationship has been inverted. The state hides behind secrecy, classified files, and redactions while demanding total visibility into your finances, communications, movement, and behavior. A society where the rulers live in privacy while the population lives under surveillance is the very definition of tyranny.

The "social contract" survives through mythology and force. Every state on Earth operates on the assumption that your existence itself is taxable, regulatable, searchable, trackable, and conditionally permitted. A free human being does not belong to the collective. Your life is not public property.

A free society builds resilient individuals, families, communities, markets, mutual aid, and voluntary networks. The state builds dependency, then points at the chains and has the audacity to call them compassion. Politicians love populations that panic at the thought of the machine stopping because terrified dependents are easier to control than sovereign human beings.

A man travels Oregon on horseback and plants native edible foods along hiking trails. He marks them "Eat me" with smiley faces so hikers know what they can pick. The federal government responds by charging him with bioterrorism. He carries knowledge of that ecosystem that even local tribes have lost, and the state's answer is to call him a terrorist for putting wild plants back in dirt where they belong.
