The greatest story ever told seven stolen dogs escaped an illegal truck led by a small corgi, and ran 17 km across highways and fields, against all odds to find their way home. Driven by loyalty and love

In China’s Jilin province, seven neighboring dogs stolen for sale at a dog meat market escaped from a transport truck — and their journey home has captured attention online. Reports say the dogs stayed together during the escape, with an injured German Shepherd protected by the group, while a corgi appeared to guide them. Over two days, they traveled around 17 km across roads and fields before eventually making it back to their owners. A real-life escape story — with a touch of movie-like moments.

@Babygravy9 I couldn't finish reading Esoteric Trumpism. Now I'm extremely glad that I didn't. I feel like a sucker for buying it though.

I’ll tell you why the world has become so reprehensible: because of people like you. You used AI to write your book Esoteric Trumpism, lied that it was your own work and got me to write the foreword to it—a great foreword that was entirely original, funny, provocative and intellectually rigorous. You lied to James Kirkpatrick too, who also contributed to the book. Virtually everything you’ve written over the past however many years has been written using AI, which is why you were fired from Arktos and your entire corpus of work for them has been pulled from their catalogue and website. I got wise to your little grift once I started receiving your execrable Substack essays by email, all of which bore the unmistakeable traces of AI. I began calling you “Von Slopmeister” as a little joke—“another missive from Von Slopmeister,” I’d chuckle when “your” latest plopped into my inbox—but then I realised you had probably written Esoteric Trumpism using AI as well. I read the book for the first time and it was obvious, but I wanted to make sure, so I ran passages through detectors. The results were unequivocal. I’m told when you were confronted by Arktos, you said you just happened to have a personal style that resembles AI writing. Who on earth do you think you’re fooling besides yourself? The “right wing” is full of people like Constantin here, who make a great song and dance of being “based” adherents of traditional values and virtues, but actually they’re lazy charlatans and strangers to the truth. They live none of the values they preach, and I’m sure they derive great satisfaction from deceiving the people who buy their work. Make sure you pick up a copy of “Multipolar Star Wars” though, which definitely wasn’t written by ChatGPT.

@Darren_Mooney When I was a kid, Miami Vice was aspirational. It made me want to be a coke dealer with an Uzi and a hot woman waiting for me in an Art Deco house. Hill Street Blues was too brown and gray and gritty for my 10 year old sensibilities

As somebody who loves “Miami Vice”, the entire point of the show was that it was in no way “authentic.” The beauty of the show is that it is a show about artifice, about veneer, about shallow image. “Authentic soul” was across the street, in “Hill Street Blues.”
Pamela Hensley🇺🇸@PamelaHensley22

This scene in Miami Vice where "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins plays stands as one of TV's all time greatest cinematic sequences. It effortlessly establishes the mood and highlights just how far today's television industry has fallen. This authentic soul is gone.

@portraitinflesh The protagonist of the song was struggling with his feelings of being an inadvertent tr*nny chaser. He almost went through with it. In the end he couldn’t do it, but he wasn’t hateful

What sort of little tit expects a song recorded in 1970 to be "evolved" on trans rights? Anyway, the lyrics of "Lola" *aren't* hostile to the title character; they're actually rather sweet, and even progressive, by the standards of the era. Eminem was SO right about this schmuck.

This is why the JQ becomes more of a hurdle to advancing our ideas as it fails to explain reality. It starts with a conclusion and has to work its way back but if you look at especially the EU you find white gentiles of noble lineage imposing race communism on their own people.

@allgarbled I used to date a girl that lived there. It feels dead. No vitality. Is it all the Asians? Are they so quiet and reserved that they suck the life out of the environment? On paper it should be great.

Timely reminder of when this guy reviewed that guy... Iggy Pop on Gibbon's Decline and Fall (Classics Ireland, 1995): Caesar Lives by Iggy Pop In 1982, horrified by the meanness, tedium and depravity of my existence as I toured the American South playing rock and roll music and going crazy in public, I purchased an abridged copy of The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire (Dero Saunders, Penguin). The grandeur of the subject appealed to me, as did the cameo illustration of Edward Gibbon, the author, on the front cover. He looked like a heavy dude. Being in a political business, I had long made a habit of reading biographies of wilful characters — Hitler, Churchill, MacArthur, Brando — with large profiles, and I also enjoyed books on war and political intrigue, as I could relate the action to my own situation in the music business, which is not about music at all, but is a kind of religion-rental. I would read with pleasure around 4 am, with my drugs and whisky in cheap motels, savouring the clash of beliefs, personalities and values, played out on antiquity’s stage by crowds of the vulgar, led by huge archetypal characters. And that was the end of that. Or so I thought. Eleven years later I stood in a dilapidated but elegant room in a rotting mansion in New Orleans, and listened as a piece of music strange to my ears pulled me back to ancient Rome and called forth those ghosts to merge in hilarious, bilious pretence with the Schwartzkopfs, Schwartzeneggers and Sheratons of modern American money and muscle myth. Out of me poured information I had no idea I ever knew, let alone retained, in an extemporaneous soliloquy I called ‘Caesar’. When I listened back, it made me laugh my ass off because it was so true. America is Rome. Of course, why shouldn’t it be? All of Western life and institutions today are traceable to the Romans and their world. We are all Roman children for better or worse. The best part of this experience came after the fact — my wife gave me a beautiful edition in three volumes of the magnificent original unabridged Decline and Fall, and since then the pleasure and profit have been all mine as I enjoy the wonderful language, organization and scope of this masterwork. Here are just some of the ways I benefit: I feel a great comfort and relief knowing that there were others who lived and died and thought and fought so long ago; I feel less tyrannized by the present day. I learn much about the way our society really works, because the system-origins — military, religious, political, colonial, agricultural, financial — are all there to be scrutinized in their infancy. I have gained perspective. The language in which the book is written is rich and complete, as the language of today is not. I find out how little I know. I am inspired by the will and erudition which enabled Gibbon to complete a work of twenty-odd years. The guy stuck with things. I urge anyone who wants life on earth to really come alive for them to enjoy the beautiful ancestral ancient world.

No Safe Words
No Safe Words@Cyber_Trailer·
Since my account is somewhat anonymous I’m going to disclose where some of the California high-speed rail money gets wasted. 99% of you don’t realize where giant chunks of the money is disappearing to. The California high-speed rail authority, literally owns thousands of parcels of land that are in various stages continued litigation, tenant improvements, eviction, and constant maintenance. For example, there are many homes and apartment complexes in the plant path that have been purchased years ahead of construction. Removing those tenants is a slow and expensive process. (let’s ignore the extra stress on housing that all of these destroyed properties are causing) In some cases, these are low rent apartments with a lengthy eviction process During that process, the state of California is the landlord and has to maintain the property codes the same as any other landlord. This means repairs, adding smoke detectors, fixing roofs, vegetation management, landscaping, paying off tenants to leave early, boarding up Windows, constant trash cleanups, towing vehicles etc. But the High Speed Rail Authority doesn’t just have to maintain these properties at normal cost. Every single bit of that work has to be done at California prevailing wage rates. The work can only be done through qualified contractors that have passed through a long series of idiotic mazes to qualify to perform the work. An average rate per hour (charge rate) for a worker to perform any service on these properties is approximately $200 an hour for labor only. The cost go up for specialized work, like electricians, plumbers, or machine operators. Properties that are literally worthless are being maintained at huge expense just so the next round of homeless transients can break into the property and cause more damage. For reasons I can’t explain, the process to finally demo and remove the structures takes years. I’m only mentioning the tip of the iceberg regarding my firsthand knowledge. Completely separate from those outlandish costs are the inflation caused by the construction. The prevailing word on the street is that nothing is getting done. The truth is that a lot is getting done and none of it efficiently. The amount of concrete being poured daily and monthly to build gigantic overpasses for both the rail and roadways is not understood. In these work areas, every concrete mixing company is fully scheduled out and cannot offer building materials for other basic services such as building a house often times for weeks when the average lead time for many of these services used to be one day. And that’s just the schedule, never mind the huge cost increases from straining the supply chain and Labor pool. The amount of concrete and steel that has gone into the structures so far is massive. Dozens and dozens of new water wells have been dug just for dust control. Thousands upon thousands of acres of highly productive tree fruits and nuts have been torn up and shredded. Utility scale solar fields have been uprooted and sometimes relocated at extravagant costs. Every type of business you can imagine has gone through either a closure, relocation, or a long-term tenant agreement with the rail authority. In some cases, it’s just a buyout where the business closes its doors forever. The owners get something all of the workers get nothing. Don’t get me started on how thick the layers of bureaucracy are for these minute tasks that occur on all of these properties. The inefficiency is far beyond your wildest dreams. In many cases, this is not related to fraud in any way it’s just absolute ignorance, red tape, and failed leadership. I can go much deeper into specific examples, but I think that gives some of you an idea of what’s actually happening in California. If a rail is ever usable, some portions of the structures will be decades old and already in disrepair.
