Katie's tweet is a fine message, but I've had a growing opinion in the past few months that Sega specifically wants this fanatic behaviour. Notice how Katie's tweet specifically ignored behaviour like how someone got jumped for daring to criticise Mania Knuckles sprites. 1/3

Sonic, as a franchise, is so special because there's truly something for everyone to enjoy. While you're allowed your opinions and criticisms, there's no need to purposefully steal joy away from others.

@TheRedGemstone To be it's a basic inbetween animation that looks very wonky that also adds to discussion in how a lot of ppl don't like how Knuckles (Classic in this discussion) standardised and rounded out his proportions over time.

Sonic fans will call Kirby boring as if it doesn't genuinely have better worldbuilding and more reverence for its history than Sonic ever has. Being a long time Kirby fan, the Star Dream reveal was more hype than anything in over half of the Sonic series.

The company wants this fanatic behaviour because it's essentially free marketing, and discourages negative opinions. Fangame devs and content creators are put in muzzles if they dare be negative. Especially fangames which would instantly be labelled as "spite projects." 2/3

If what the series is now is "so far from what you liked about it," maybe the series has changed so much that it's time for you to... move on.
Criticism is fine, but when that's the majority of your interactions with the modern franchise... maybe play something else.
