To those who don’t understand why many Americans distrust vote-by-mail: Perception matters. You can tell people the system is secure all day long, but if ballots are mailed out, sit in mailboxes, move through multiple hands, and get counted days or weeks later… people are going to question it. The gold standard is simple: Show up. Show ID. Cast your ballot in person. Confidence in elections is everything. If half the country doesn’t trust the process, that’s a problem that deserves to be taken seriously—not mocked.
