Fremont Firefighters as members of FEMA California Task Force 4, alongside partners from multiple agencies, were recently deployed to Washington State to assist during a significant flooding event. Their dedication and hard work made a real difference for the communities in need. After completing their mission, these professionals are now back in Fremont. We are proud of their commitment, teamwork, and service during this deployment. Thank you for representing our community and Department with courage and excellence.

We would like to remind community members that ALL fireworks are banned in the City of Fremont. 🚫 Fremont’s public safety departments would also like to remind Fremont residents, businesses, and visitors that the sale, possession, and use of all fireworks are banned within the City of Fremont. This ban includes the “safe and sane” variety of fireworks that are legal in some other cities. The ban, in effect since December 1986, has helped reduce the number of injuries, wildland fires, and structure fires caused by fireworks in the City of Fremont.

🔋 Batteries are in high demand and used quite often during the holidays. Many children's toys and gadgets require batteries and if they are not used correctly, they have the potential to catch on fire or explode. Here are some battery safety guidelines to reference during the busy holiday season. nfpa.org/education

Did you know that U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated average of 832 home structure fires per year that began with decorations, excluding Christmas trees? Here are some tips for staying safer during the holiday season: ✅ Ensure that decorative Christmas tree lights are in good working order and used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, keeping in mind that some lights are designed for indoor or outdoor use only. ✅ Make sure the tree is not blocking an exit. ✅ When purchasing new lights, make sure they bear the mark of an independent, qualified testing laboratory, which ensures that the product has been tested to meet established safety standards. For more information, please visit nfpa.org/holiday.

On the evening of December 3rd, around 5:30 PM, Fremont Firefighters responded to a call about a car that crashed into an apartment building in the Brookvale area. When crews arrived, they found a vehicle had hit an apartment unit, causing structural damage. Firefighters immediately went to work—checking for injuries, making sure no one was trapped, shutting off utilities, evacuating nearby units, and assessing the building’s safety. Thankfully, there were no injuries. Fremont Fire's Special Operations Task Force (SOTF) stepped in to stabilize the damaged structure and prevent further issues. In total, three apartments were impacted. Five adults, one child, and one cat were displaced, but everyone is safe. 👏 Great teamwork by all involved!

Through mentorship, hands-on workshops, and internships, these young adults are building real-world career and life skills that open doors to brighter futures. Thank you to all the partners and organizers who make this impactful work possible. The Fremont Fire Department is honored to be part of that mission.

Daylight Savings Time is here! 🕗 As we turn back the clocks, it’s the perfect time to check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors! Protect your home: "Change your clocks, change your batteries". ✔️ Smoke Detectors: Test them and replace the batteries. If a detector is older than 10-years, replace the entire unit. ✔️ Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detectors: Test them and replace the batteries. CO detectors typically need to be replaced every 5-7 years. Check the manufacturer's date! Safety is an all-year thing but let this be your annual reminder! 🔔

🎃🔥 Happy Halloween from Fremont Fire! 🔥🎃 As you enjoy spooky decorations, tasty treats, and a night full of fun, remember to stay safe! A few tips to remember: ✅ Check all goodies before the kids dig in. Make sure to remove loose candy, open packages, and remove any choking hazards. ✅ If carving pumpkins, don't use candles to light them. Instead, try battery-operated lights or glow sticks. ✅ Have your trick or treaters walk only on sidewalks, not the street. For more helpful tips visit redcross.org.
