Are you coming to our Annual Military Equipment Display? We will be showing our military equipment on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 5:30pm-7:00pm--don't miss it! The event will be at the Fremont Police Department parking lot at 2000 Stevenson Blvd. Since AB 481 went into effect in 2022, certain law enforcement equipment are defined as “military equipment” and all state law enforcement agencies need to seek council’s approval and showcase all such equipment annually. For clarity, FPD does not participate in the Military Surplus Program (AKA 10-33 program). We encourage community members to come to our event and to visit our website to learn more about our inventory. To learn more about AB 481 visit fremontpolice.gov/about-us/trans…

Places to be, people to see? You might be tempted to cut a few seconds by speeding, but it’s not worth it. Between traffic lights, congestion, and stop signs, driving faster usually only saves a few seconds, but it drastically increases your risk of collisions. Speeding drivers have less time to react to unexpected traffic hazards, and less control during an impact. So give yourself more time and stick to the speed limit.

Earlier in the month, we stopped by Parkmont Elementary School to celebrate Read Across America! 📚 Our officers spent the morning reading books to multiple classrooms and answering students’ questions. After story time, we joined the kids outside during recess for some fun on the playground! Make sure to swipe all the way to the end to catch one of our officers throwing down a poster dunk that had the students filled with excitement! 🏀

Press Release: The Fremont Police Department Encourages Safe St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations Fremont, Calif. – As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, Fremont Police Department reminds everyone that the best way to celebrate the holiday is to plan ahead for a safe, sober way to get home. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1,355 people were killed in alcohol-impaired traffic crashes in California in 2023. “We want people to make St. Patrick’s Day memorable for all the right reasons,” said Lieutenant Ramin Mahboobi. “Before you raise a glass, make sure you’ve planned for a safe ride home, whether that’s a designated sober driver, rideshare, taxi or public transportation.” Additional officers will be on patrol March 17 looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Plan for a Safe Celebration Before heading out for St. Patrick’s Day festivities, follow these tips to stay safe: •Designate a Sober Driver: Choose someone ahead of time who will stay alcohol-free and make sure everyone gets home safely. •Use Ridesharing Services, Taxis or Public Transportation: Rideshare apps and transit options are safe alternatives to driving if you've been drinking. •Host Responsibly: If you’re hosting, offer plenty of non-alcoholic beverage options and make sure your guests have safe, sober rides home. •Look Out for Others: Don’t let friends or family members drive impaired. Take their keys and help arrange a safe ride. •Never Drive Impaired or Distracted: It’s not worth the risk – your life and others’ lives depend on it! Impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, cannabis products and other drugs may also cause impairment. If you plan on drinking or taking medications with a driving warning label, let someone who is sober drive. If you see someone who appears to be driving while impaired, call 9-1-1. Patrol Highlight: Subject Arrested for Possessing Illegal Firearms in a Vehicle On February 21, 2026, at approximately 3:55 p.m., a Fremont PD officer was patrolling in the area of Warm Springs Boulevard and Brown Road when he located a vehicle in a parking lot. The officer contacted the subject sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. While standing outside of the vehicle, the officer observed a large amount of marijuana inside a plastic multicolored bag. The subject told the officer he believed there was a quarter pound of marijuana in the bag. Due to the discovery of the marijuana, the officer searched the vehicle and located two loaded handguns, one was unregistered and the other had an obliterated serial number. The firearm with the obliterated serial number appeared to have an “automatic switch,” which would render the firearm capable of fully automatic fire. Inserted into this firearm was a loaded fifty-round drum magazine. Also located in the vehicle was a loaded thirty-one-round magazine, a loaded twenty-two-round magazine, and a loaded ten-round magazine. The subject, identified as Kutufolo Laulea (25 years old, resident of Oakland), was arrested for Penal Code 25400(a)(1) – Carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, Penal Code 30605(a) – Possession of an assault weapon, Penal Code 25850(a) – Carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle in a public place, Penal Code 29180(c) – Owning an unserialized firearm, and Penal Code 23900 – Obliteration of firearm’s serial number. The case was reviewed by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, and Laulea was ultimately charged with six felony offenses and one misdemeanor offense related to the firearms and magazines. A photo of the recovered firearms and magazines is included in this patrol highlight. See something and say something. Please report suspicious activities by calling (510) 790-6800, option 3. You can also send us an anonymous tip by texting "Tip FREMONTPD" followed by your message, to 888-777. In an emergency, please dial 911.

Press Release: Update #1: Dog Remains Discovered Following a Fire on a Bridge On March 3, 2026, at approximately 9:05 p.m., Fremont Police officers were dispatched to the report of a small fire in the bike lane of a bridge in the area of Niles Boulevard and Linda Drive. The Fremont Fire Department was on the scene and had already extinguished a small fire involving burning wood. Officers spoke with personnel from the Fremont Fire Department, who advised that the remains of a dog were discovered in the now-extinguished fire.   The dog's remains were transported to the Tri-City Animal Shelter. A veterinary examination has determined that the dog had died prior to being set on fire, and the veterinarian was able to rule out fire as the cause of death. The dog also showed no signs of trauma. At this time, the exact cause of death remains unknown. The dog was an approximately four-month-old, male, black-and-tan pit bull who was not neutered. We understand that this situation has been upsetting for many in our community, and we appreciate the concern and compassion people have shown.  This incident remains under investigation, and we will share additional updates if they become available. Anyone who witnessed or has information regarding this incident, please contact Fremont Police Animal Services by calling (510) 790-6635 or emailing AnimalServices@fremont.gov. The Fremont Police Department also accepts anonymous tips. Text 'Tip FremontPD' followed by your short message to 888-777 or via the web at fremontpolice.gov/Tip.
