โIn 1920 the dean and chapter of St Paul's Cathedral refused to allow a thanksgiving service which would have included a Solemn Te Deum and a sermon although a promise was given that no incense would be used. But in 1923 the cathedral authorities changed their minds and, as we have already noted, allowed a high mass to be celebrated.
