HS and Transfer portal athletes. Can I share some free game with you? 1. Have good grades. A’s and B’s always help, especially in math, English, and science. You could be costing yourself $$$ and opportunity. 2. Know your market value. If your most recent times can’t at least make a conference final, you may not have the market value you want or think you may have. No matter if that team is successful in that event or not. 3. Get to know the conference you are entering. Look at what wins and what makes a final. 4. Ask coaches what value they have for your event in their team success. Don’t assume anything. 5. This is a what have you done for me lately sport. A college coach is not going to value what you did 2-3 seasons ago over what happened this season. If your performances aren’t trending up, be prepared for your market value to take a hit in most cases. 6. Full scholarships are easily asked for but hard to obtain. Everyone wants a full and we know that but we can’t full scholarship everyone 7. Never listen to the street team. Roster limits do not mean scholarship increases in most cases. Some of the people you listen to don’t know what’s going on at this level. Ask questions, don’t assume. 8. Roster limits are real. Coaches in many programs are cutting people and some of those people may not find a home or afford to take a scholarship decrease. You will have to be productive in the postseason 9. Coaches don’t scholarship based on potential and possibility. Coaches scholarship and make decisions with probability and production. Bring value not wishes. 10. NIL isn’t one size fits all and doesn’t really affect track and field in most cases. The NIL you are looking for is going to take some elite performances. Be very wary of people outside of a program promising NIL opportunities. There are some bad people scamming good young people 11. Be urgent not desperate. 12. If you are waiting on a school but they haven’t contacted you by now and you don’t have performances that can help them, you may have your answer. Go where you are needed and wanted 13. You see the same people on the way down you saw on the way up. Be respectful. Understand the difference between being told the truth and being told something you didn’t want to hear. 14. Talk to the student athletes about their current experiences. Talk to multiple members of the team to see if the message is consistent. 15. Have transcripts and ncaa id numbers ready to send. Hope this helps. Again. Not one size fits all. I try my best not to speak in absolutes and I’m not sensitive if someone disagrees.

Football guys if you’re looking to get faster the easiest place to accomplish that task is to go to your schools track coach. Nothing against a S&C coach but let’s be real when it comes to speed
