McDowell might actually be a top 5 worst philosophy writer of all time

Peer review in philosophy was a mistake.

A tenured professorship was meant to be the height of a scholarly career — reserved for those who made lasting contributions to knowledge. Those who achieved it were supposed to be permanently revered for their intellectual legacy. Today it is a low-paying job constrained by grant pressure, administrative control, customer-service obligations, and narrowing intellectual freedom. Once you get there, no one really cares — you’re replaceable like any other employee. If the supposed pinnacle of the profession is just another managed position, that is precisely the evidence I’ve been presenting that the system is broken.

tenured/permanent academics don't generally deserve higher pay--and some should probably be paid less than they are.

I hereby issue a “land acknowledgment” reminder that the university is a creation of Western thought – and of the great Scholastics in particular – and that fifth columnist ideologues like this are trespassers and colonizers. The university is not yours, creep. Get the hell out.

The plaintiff says he believed the boneless wings "were actually wings that were deboned (i.e., comprised entirely out of chicken wing meat." Had he known they weren't "actually deboned wings," he says he wouldn't have bought them.

not the main point here but in what world is hannah arendt a philosopher?
