Do you like animals? Do you especially like their parts? Are your favorite parts of animals cuttlebone and nictating membranes? Then you will love my new paper, and the other fantastic essays, in this collection.

@theoeides4 For you, an advocate of close reading, to think my second claim is the attribution of a mental disorder to an individual, is wild. You: “ how dare you suggest I’m feral in public!” 😂

@BMcGrewvy I’m sorry I hurt your feelings. I didn’t mean to insult you or denigrate your writing. It was just a very bold claim, like if I were to say my writing proovesthat, unlike Plato, I know how to do philosophy correctly. If you’d like to send what you wrote, I’d be happy to read it.

This kind of makes me sad, not gonna lie. I made something I'm proud of and I just want to share it. Honest.

@jdoyleDoyle1 I’m exaggerating (humorously I hope). But it’s interesting that the things you point to apply to argumentation quite generally, regardless of the field in which it occurs.

@FreyChristopher I don’t think that’s fair about philosophy. Premises should be unreasonable-to-reject. Argument should ideally be valid; will settle for ‘disputes about validity raise deep & interesting questions’. Conclusion shouldn’t be trivial

@FreyChristopher This is most promising of a very non-disembodied account of soul! Excellent. What about the other humors? or the complexion of the elements?

I have 3 giant binders full of CDs. I haven’t listened to any of them in well over a decade. I don’t even own anything that could play them. So why can’t I bring myself to throw them out?

Lol. If you aren't teaching (in Latin) the trivium, quadrivium, metaphysics, ethics, natural philosophy, law, medicine, or theology, then you are colonizing the university. 😂
Edward Feser@FeserEdward

I hereby issue a “land acknowledgment” reminder that the university is a creation of Western thought – and of the great Scholastics in particular – and that fifth columnist ideologues like this are trespassers and colonizers. The university is not yours, creep. Get the hell out.

Perhaps there is an amount of Aristotle to read between the extremes; a “mean” if you will

To include, as part of a syllabus on the idea of liberal education, the thinkers who came up with the idea of the liberal arts and those who developed the idea leading to the creation of the university, could only be due to politics. 🤡😂

@HaikuFictionDJU I think it was originally requested by Dominican missionaries in Spain. But it was ultimately used wherever Dominicans went. I’m not an expert on the missionary patterns at the time so can’t give a more detailed answer

It is the first Hebrew translation of the Summa contra Gentiles (facing Latin and Hebrew). Produced by a Dominican friar, Giuseppe Ciantes, and published in Rome in 1657.
