Two predators who raped a 16-year-old girl after asking to use her phone outside a London Underground station have been jailed. Abdi Ahmed, 32, befriended the victim outside Camden Underground station, where she had been using one of the station’s mobile phone charging ports in the early hours of May 5, 2020. He approached her asking if she could call a taxi for him, before then persuading her to come with him. Ahmed also told the girl he had killed people in the past, which made the victim fearful of him. He took her to a nearby hostel in Kentish Town, but staff at the site told him guests were not allowed in. As a result, he then took her to a flat belonging to of 41-year-old Ahmed Mohamed in Camden. Where they both took turns raping her !

Freedom can also be lost little by little, by what the Fabians call the doctrine of gradualness. A little more taxation here, a little more government expenditure there, year after year until the people are no longer the masters of the state but its servants. There are always, it seems, good reasons advanced for the state to have more power. But rarely for the state to divest itself of power. Each new problem becomes an excuse for more government intervention and less individual responsibility.

She’s going to a white CoE funeral, and calls me to ask what the norms are and what to wear and say. This summer, I’ll be going to a family wedding with her and asking the same. Because that’s integration. That’s how you build a society that works. We don’t all have to be the same. We just need to have policies that allow for proper mixing and insight.
