The MP has agreed to raise these points with the council and at the same time offered the opportunity for us to meet with her. We hope that the meeting will take place in early April and we will provide a summary in due course.

@ShaymenStats Given that the Council’s own FOI response of 30 January 2026 confirmed that the contractual framework remains unfinished and that no agreed liability exists, at what point does the Council consider that a legally operative disposal decision will have been made?

We are in the process of drafting a response to the letter, which clarifies further our position with the addition of new information. At the same time we are engaging with a specialist legal counsel who will review our case and provide advice on our next steps.

for significant legal costs as a result of pursuing this matter through a Judicial Review. This didn’t feel like the sort of tone that concerned residents volunteering to be part of a community group should expect from representatives of their Local Authority when speaking up.

and a clear knowledge of how much the Shay is actually worth. To not have asked such an obvious question and not outline the financial implications feels to completely miss the point of a meaningful Consultation.
