ANOTHER CUPSET TO THEIR NAME. 🏆 On Wednesday, Sydney United defeated the Central Coast Mariners in a tense penalty shootout, which featured 21 PENALTIES in the Round of 32 of the Australia Cup. It would be United's third cupset, and first since the run in 2022, that made them the first non-A-League side to reach the final. The win ties them for 2nd, level with APIA Leichhardt, in wins as a local federation club over A-League opposition in the Australia Cup. Sydney United will play in the Round of 16 for the seventh time, as they sit in third place in the league table for NPL NSW. It has been a great week for the side, being only four points behind the league leaders heading into Round 25. @SydUtd58FC @AustraliaCup @NPLNSW 📸 @harleyappezzato

After suffering another disappointing qualifying start, does the Scottish Premiership continue to be a good destination for Australian players? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺 For a number of seasons, across the qualifying stages of UEFA club competitions, Scottish clubs have suffered defeats to teams from lower ranked coefficient rankings. Earlier today, Hibernian FC lost 0-2 against Kosovar outfit KF Malisheva in Conference League qualifying, while in Champions League qualifying Hearts went down to Austrian side Sturm Graz 0-4. For the past few seasons, Scottish clubs have struggled in UEFA club qualifying by either dropping down to lower competitions or being eliminated in general. Scottish club football is in a decline given poor results in just the qualifying stages of European competitions.
