FinHouse Research & Training Center (FRTC), in partnership with Kwigira 3600 Foundation, has successfully completed Phase One of physical field data collection in Burera, Kayonza, and Nyanza Districts.
The field mission centered on direct community engagement, agricultural observation, environmental assessment, and grassroots data verification. Through practical interaction with farmers and on-site crop evaluation, including climate-smart intercropping systems such as bananas combined with fruit tree seedlings, the team collected vital insights to inform evidence-based, sustainable development programmes to Assess crop performance and sustainable practices, Evaluate agroforestry models, Document traditional and modern farming methods, Strengthen farmer participation and trust, Build a reliable data foundation for scalable interventions
Phase Two will expand both physical and virtual data collection to 18 additional districts, using blended digital and field-based methodologies to enhance coverage, accuracy, and impact measurement.
Model for Strategic Support
This holistic approach extends beyond research; it establishes a pipeline for rural transformation. We invite: Microfinance institutions & SACCOs to design tailored financial products for smallholder farmers. Agribusiness exporters connect farmers to regional and international markets. Importers & input suppliers to provide quality seeds, irrigation systems, and climate-smart technologies, and Impact investors & development partners to co-invest in scalable, data-driven rural enterprises.
Together, we can turn data into productivity, productivity into market access, and market access into sustainable economic growth.
Strong partnerships today create resilient agricultural value chains in the future.

From Nursery to Impact – Join the Smart Agribusiness Movement with FRTC
Today, the Senior Researcher from FinHouse Research & Training Center (FRTC) carried out a field visit in Rwamagana District, Karenge Sector, Byimana Cell, Rukori Village as part of our ongoing efforts to promote Smart Agribusiness across Rwanda.
During the visit, we observed healthy vegetable seedlings carefully grown in biodegradable nursery pots made from natural banana fibre, demonstrating sustainable farming in practice.
These strong, vibrant seedlings reflect more than good farming. They represent:
# Innovation at the grassroots level
#Climate-smart agricultural practices
#Environmental responsibility reduced plastic use
#Higher productivity through proper nursery management
At FRTC, we believe that healthy seedlings today lead to higher yields tomorrow. Smart farming starts at the nursery stage, with the right knowledge, skills, and techniques.
Through our Smart Agribusiness Training programmes, we equip farmers, youth, cooperatives, and agripreneurs with practical, modern, and profitable farming solutions that increase income while protecting the environment.
Agriculture is no longer about survival; it is now an opportunity.
Farming is no longer traditional; it is innovative.
The future is in the hands of those who farm intelligently.
Join FRTC today and become part of Rwanda’s journey towards sustainable, profitable, and climate-resilient agribusiness.
Smart agribusiness begins with you.

Today, FinHouse Research & Training Center (FRTC) continued its Training Needs Assessment (TNA) data collection in Kayonza District, engaging communities in Mukarange Sector, specifically in Kayonza, Mburabuturo, and Nyagatovu Cells.
Our team worked closely with local farmers and community members, gaining valuable insights into traditional avocado harvesting methods to reduce fruit damage and maintain quality.
These indigenous practices demonstrate strong local knowledge in sustainable agriculture and post-harvest handling, key elements for enhancing agribusiness value chains and market competitiveness.
We remain dedicated to evidence-based training programmes grounded in genuine community experience.

@FrtcRwanda It's my pleasure to be the one who led this TNA process, and it takes me over the moon to remind me of my very childish hobby. Sailing is the magic and the purpose of visit is extremely achieved as unexpected factors involved in the way.
Thank you, @FrtcRwannda, @Fondation3600
