So it’s not “death” nor is it necessarily “attraction” but when males get too aggressive or when there are too many males (often times there will be numerous males and one female). But the female will enter a state of tonic immobility and it can literally save their lives because when there are too many males on the female in a “mating ball” the female can legit suffocate and die. Tonic immobility stiffens the female and makes her undesirable to the males and they will then find another mate.
