The risk of Russian invasion into Europe no longer exists. The EU needs to take its security into its own hands while the US rebuilds and focuses on the Pacific theater.

They had extraordinary military might. So much so that Russia and a lot of the world is still relying on their relics today. From armored vehicles to space flight.

If it weren't for the US' steadfast determination on fighting Communism, I'll say it again, most if not all of Europe would have fallen to them. It was to the American financial and political advantage to keep Europeans, particularly central Europeans, dependent on US aid and defense. It was also to the US advantage to project power through this.

We stabilized the European economy, prevented political collapse and established the start of the military alliance known today as NATO. The US nuclear umbrella was a major factor and remains.

Its global influence. They were threatened by Russia so they used Europe as a barrier and planted soldiers there to hold sway.
