Statement from the Guardians:

Final thoughts on the stadium vote: Billionaires have accumulated way too much. They own your home. They own your retirement. Private equity owns every single business. Wall Street and banks continue to screw over the average American. They own your media. They own our politicians. They send our kids to war. This. Ain’t. The. Fight. The 3/8 cent tax benefits the community directly and Kansas City has cashed in enormously from the marketing vehicles of MLB and NFL. It’s up to the voters to ensure that continues. John Sherman and Clark Hunt are not Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, George Soros, or Elon Musk. They are about as benevolent as you can get when it comes to billionaires. Clark Hunt took the most dysfunctional franchise in the NFL and turned it into a dynasty. He has fulfilled his duty. John Sherman bought the team from the notoriously cheap Glass family and spent nearly half a billion dollars on player salaries this off-season. He is doing his job. These men can stay solvent a lot longer than you can stand on whatever principle voters choose. A “no” vote tomorrow will start a perilous game of chicken between Jackson County and two of its premier organizations. Suitors would be lined up ready to make their pitch. A “yes” vote continues the status quo of Kansas City being one of the finest sports towns in the world and keeps the city on its current trajectory. Pick your battle.
